মেরিন ড্রাইভের কাছেই একটা আরামপ্রদ হোটেলের সাত তলার সুইটের ব্যালকনিতে দাঁড়িয়ে সমুদ্রের লীলাখেলা দেখার ফুরসতে কত বিশ তিরিশ ভাবছিলো মন্দিরা। শীত পড়ব পড়ব এমন ঋতুতে আরব সাগর যতটা শান্ত থাকবে ভাবা গিয়েছিলো তেমনটি নয়। বরং ঢেউ গুলো মস্ত ফনা তুলে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ছিলো বালুকাবেলায়। হয়তো এটা ভাটার সময়। তাই বিদায় নিতে না চাওয়া জলের এমন দৌড়াত্মপনা। তবে এমন অশান্ত না হলে সমুদ্রকে মানায় না। জানলা দিয়ে কি যেন দেখে মন্দিরা লাফিয়ে উঠলো উচ্ছাসে, দেখে যাও, কি সুন্দর জাহাজ একটা, মনে হচ্ছে একটা বিশাল ঈগল উড়ে এসে বসলো সমুদ্রের উপর। সুমিত যথারীতি ব্যাস্ত তার কাজে। মুম্বাইতে অবশ্য বেড়াতে আসেনি সুমিত, ছোট্ট একটা কাজ নিয়ে এসেছে। কাজটা উপলক্ষ, উদ্দেশ্য মন্দিরাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে দু তিনদিন নির্ভেজাল বেড়ানো। সেই ছোট্ট কাজটির গভীরে ডুব দিয়েছে ভোরে উঠেই, এখন মন্দিরার ডাকাডাকিতে তার সাড় ভাঙে, ঘাড় তুলে বললো, এখনো জাহাজ দেখার বয়েস আছে?
