સાવ જીવ વિનાનાં પગ લઈને એણે ખડકીની બહાર પોતાનું પચાસ વરસનું થોડું અદોદળું શરીર ધકેલ્યું .જીવનની તમામ ચેતના હરાઈ ગઈ હોય તેમ હાથમાંથી બે વખત તાળું છુટી ગયું .એક સમયે ઘાટા લીલાં છુંદળા જે હાથ પર શોભતા એ હાથ આજે છૂંદણાની જેમ ઝંખવાઈ ગયેલા લાગતા હતાં .ડેલીનાં બે બારણાં ભેગા કર આગળીયો વાસતાં તો નિઃસાસો જ નખાઈ ગયો. સડેલી બારસાખ ને અધડુકા બંધ થતાં દરવાજામાંથી છેક સુધી નજર અંદર ગઈ જાણે આખા ઘરને આંખોમાં જડીને લઈ જવું ન હોય... સાકર માએ પગ ઉપાડ્યો ત્યાં તો એનું મેલખાંઉ ઓઢણું ખડકીનાં ઉચકાયેલ ખીલ્લામાં ભરાયું ને એનેલાગ્યું કે જાણે કોઈ રોકે છે. મન ચકડોળે ચડયું "જિંદગીમાં ઘણીવાર વસમું લાગ્યું પણ આવું તો પે'લીવાર જ .... એમ તો જે દી' પોતે ફળીયામાં ખાટલો ઢાયરો (ઢાળ્યો)તો ઈ રાતે પણ......"
