પ્રિય વાચક મિત્રો, આજે હું આપની સમક્ષ એક અલગ નવલકથા રજૂ કરી રહી છું. આ નવલકથા લેખક ગુણવંતરાય આચાર્ય દવારા લિખિત છે. તમે ટાઈટેનિક જહાજ વિષે સાંભળ્યું હશે પરંતુ ગુજરાતના ટાઈટેનિક વિષે કદાચ ઘણા ઓછા લોકો એ સાભળ્યું હશે. જી હા આજે હું વાત કરી રહી છું હાજી કાસમની વીજળી વિષે ની... તો આપ સવૅ આ નવલકથા વાચજો અને આપના પ્રતિભાવ આપશો... જહાજ વૈતરણા (વીજળી) વરાળથી ચાલતું જહાજ વૈતરણા જહાજ, જે વીજળી અથવા હાજી કાસમની વીજળી તરીકે જાણીતું હતું, એ. જે. શેફર્ડ અને કુાં, મુંબઈની માલિકીનું જહાજ હતું. આ જહાજ ૮ ડિસેમ્બર ૧૮૮૮ ના રોજ ગુજરાતના સૌરાષ્ટ્ર નજીક વાવાઝોડાંમાં માંડવીથી મુંબઈ જતી વખતે ખોવાઈ ગયું હતું. આ દુર્ઘટનામાં ૭૪૦થી વધુ લોકો ખોવાઈ ગયા હતા. આ ઘટનાને કારણે ઘણાં દરિયાઈ કાવ્યો અને લોકગીતો રચાયા છે.આ જહાજને વૈતરણા નામ મુંબઈ વિસ્તારની વૈતરણા નદી પરથી અપાયું હતું. જહાજનું હુલામણું નામ વીજળી હતું, કારણ કે જહાજ વીજળીના ગોળાઓ વડે પ્રકાશિત હતું. જહાજને ઘણીવાર "ગુજરાતના ટાઈટેનિક" તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે.
