રાતના બે વાગ્યા હતા. હાર્દિક સૂતો હતો. અચાનક એનો પલંગ હલવા લાગે છે. હાર્દિક ઉઠીને જોવે છે. આ વળી કોણ હશે! જેને આખો પલંગ હલાવી નાખ્યો? કોણ હશે? હાર્દિક થાકી ગયો હતો એને નિંદર પણ આવતી હતી. જે થયું હોય એ બધું જ ભૂલીને ફરીથી સુઈ જાય છે. થોડીવાર પછી ફરીથી એજ રીતે પલંગ હલવા લાગે છે, એ ફટાફટ ઉભો થઇ જાય છે. એ જોવે છે તો ભૂકંપનો આંચકો હતો!, એ તરત જ દોડતો દોડતો ઘરની બહાર ચાલ્યો જાય છે. વાતાવરણ એકદમ સાફ હતું. આકાશ તારાઓ પણ સ્પષ્ટ રીતે જોઈ શકાતા હતા. હાર્દિક શહેરથી દૂર રહેતો હતો. આજુ બાજુ કોઈ જ રહેતું ન હતું. ત્યાં માત્રને માત્ર જંગલ જ હતું. આ હાર્દિક માટે કઈ નવું ન હતું. આવા ભૂકંપના આચકાઓ અગાઉ પણ આવી ચુક્યા હતા. થોડા થોડા દિવસે ભૂકંપ આવતો હતો એટલે હાર્દિક એનાથી ટેવાય ગયો હતો.
