“एक तो सुबह की भागादौड़ी दूसरे तुम... बच्चों की तरह हर तीसरे दिन शर्ट का बटन तोड़ लाते हो.” झल्लाती मिताली पति की शर्ट पर बटन टाँकने के लिए सुई में मैचिंग धागा पिरोने लगी. “मुझे भी अपना तीसरा बच्चा ही समझो तुम तो.” मालती के चेहरे पर गर्दन झुकाते हुए वैभव ने अपनी बायीं आँख चला दी. उसकी इस शरारत पर मिताली झेंप गई और सुई बटन से होती हुई उसकी उंगली में धंस गई. एक सिसकी सी निकली और अगले ही पल मिताली की उंगली वैभव के मुँह में थी. इसी बीच उंगली से निकली एक लाल बूंद वैभव की सफ़ेद शर्ट में समा गई.
