ફૂલ સ્પીડમાં દોડી રહેલી જિગરની મોટરસાઈકલનું એન્જિન એકદમથી જ બંધ થઈ ગયું અને એક આંચકા સાથે મોટરસાઈકલ ઊભી રહી ગઈ. જિગરે મનોમન કંપનીના મેનેજર ધવનને એક ગાળ બકી અને ઝડપભેર મોટરસાઈકલને કીક મારી. મોટરસાઈકલ ચાલુ થઈ નહિ. તેણે આસપાસમાં જોયું અને તેનું હૃદય એક ધબકારો ચૂકી ગયું. જમણી બાજુ ચાર પગલાં દૂર જ સ્મશાન..., સ્મશાનનો ઝાંપો હતો. તેણે અફસોસ કર્યો. તેણે રાતના બાર વાગ્યાના આ સમયે, આસપાસમાં બિલકુલ વસ્તી વિનાના સ્મશાનવાળા આ રસ્તેથી નીકળવાની જરૂર નહોતી. પણ તેની કંપનીના મેનેજર ધવને આજે તેની પાસે એટલી કમરતોડ મહેનત કરાવી હતી અને તે એટલો બધો થાકયો હતો
