જેસલ જગનો ચોરટો સોરઠી સંતો ઝવેરચંદ મેઘાણી: ગળતી એ માઝમ રાત: મધરાત ગળતી હતી. ગગનના મધપૂડામાંથી ઘાટાં અંધારાં ગળતાં હતાં. અજવાળી બીજનું બાંકું નેણ ઘડીભર બતાવીને સાંજ , કોઈક બીકણ છોકરી જેવી, ઝટપટ ભાગી ગઈ હતી. મધરાત ગળતી હતી. એવા અંધારવીંટ્યા નેસડામાં એક માટીના મકાનની પછીતે (પાછલી ભીંતે) એક આદમી ઊભો હતો. કમર પર લાલ લૂંગી લપેટી હતી. અંગ ઉપર કાળી કામળ ઓઢી હતી. અંધારા જોડે એકરસ બનતો એ લેબાસ હતો. કાળી માઝમ રાતનો એ કસબી હતો. અંદર્ અને બહાર, બધેય કાળાશ ધારણ કરીને માનવી કાળી રાતનો ગોઠિયો બન્યો હતો. એના એક હાથમાં ઉઘાડું ખડગ હતું. બીજા હાથમાં ગણેશિયો.(ચોરી કરવાનું ઓજાર) હતો. ખડગનો ખપ હતો માનવીને મારવા માટે ખતરીસાની જરૂર હતી દિવાલ ખોદવા માટે... વાંચો, આગળ... જેસલ જગનો ચોરટો.
