The Amazing Road Trip - 3

Summary of ‘The Amazing Road Trip -2’:

Two bosom friends Raj and Vicky left for a Road Trip on a bike. They travelled to core areas of Gir forests and enjoyed the wonders of nature. They reached to village of Jambudi where the Sidis live. A snake bit Vicky………

Raj was in action in a fraction of second. He caught the snake and took it away from that place and left it in bushes. He told Vicky and others not to worry because the snake was non venomous but that snake bite could result into swelling. Nearest doctor was in Talala village and without losing time they reached there. In all these formalities, the clock ticked five. Raj had an idea. He suggested Vicky that they should go to Sasan and find that hotel where the Sidis would perfom dance.

Raj rode very fast to Sasan because now the road was superb and they saw this type of road after three long days in jungle. They found out the hotel and at night they enjoyed the ‘Dhamaal’ dance of ‘Sidis’. In Dhamaal dance, the Sidis imitate animals. The head speaks stories of bravery of Sidis and their tribe. They make strange sounds and perform acts showing their physical strength. They were breaking coconuts with their heads, they were throwing fire out of their mouth and they were performing some extra ordinary stunts. Raj was amazed with it. At that time, one of the Sidis recognized them and forcefully took them on the stage. The boys had a great time dancing with the Sidis and it was fantastic. They got number of photos clicked by local press photographer. Their photo was published in the following day’s newspaper and back home their parents were thrilled to see their sons dancing with Sidis in Gir.

The fourth night they passed in that hotel in Sasan with all the luxuries which they had missed for last three days. At 5’O clock in the morning, they received a call from hotel manager who asked them if they wanted to join Sasan Safari tour by Gypsy as there were two vacant seats. They got ready in next ten minutes and all were set for the safari. They went to Sinh Sadan – an office of forest department and obtained necessary permission.

The gypsy safari was fantastic. They had travelled hundreds of kilometres in Gir but they hadn’t seen lions but now they were on bits which were decided by Government. The atmosphere was fresh because of large concentration of trees in that area. Gypsy moved slowly, Raj and Vicky were looking everything very closely and enjoying it a lot. Fragrance of flowers was mesmerizing. The guide showed them ‘Kadayo’ tree which is the speciality of Gir forests.

Soon on the way, they saw many wild animals like spotted deer, Chinkara and wild cat. They saw wide varieties of birds in Gir through binoculars of a fellow traveller. They were enjoying every moment of their life. They felt that they were in a wonderful dream. Suddenly, the driver stopped as a strange creature was standing in the middle of the road. It had vacuum type pipe in his mouth. It was a rare creature of Gir. It was an ant eater or an Asian pangolin. This creature was believed to be extinct but they were lucky to see it. Three hours had passed of the journey and now everybody on the Gypsy was feeling restless except the two boys.

The guide informed that if they couldn’t find lions in next ten fifteen minutes, they had to return because it was a protocol of discipline. Then from a distance Raj saw something which was shining in the sunshine. He guessed that it might be something of orange coloured and flashy. After a second, both the friends requested driver to drive straight for at least five minutes and they were amazed when moved forward.

The big male lions were sitting on both the ends of the road. This was an amazing scene. Their gypsy stopped and the guide gripped up his service rifle as a precaution. When they looked at the bushes, there were five cubs of lions and three lionesses were hiding behind them. Everywhere there were lions in the front, in left side and on the right side. All the people on Gypsy were thrilled and excited. They enjoyed that sight for next ten minutes. Then, the driver started Gypsy and drove with reverse gear upto next 500 metres. Actually, Raj and Vicky and others saw the lions who were just 12-15 foot away from them.

They returned to Sinh Sadan and then had a wonderful lunch in their hotel. At 4’O clock they started their return journey towards home. On the way, they remembered each and every moment. They started Gondal to Tulsishyam, they didn’t go to Diu but they took a challenging track of Gir and they travelled through almost all important places of Gir. They met almost hundred people and became friendly with all of them. They tasted all the varieties of food. They saw almost all the animals which are mentioned in any of the travelogues. They were challenged by roads, rivers, animals and also forest officers but they came out of all the situations as victorious.

They reached Junagadh by half past seven and they went to Bhavnath Taleti to have glimpse of Girnar which supports entire ecosystem of Gir. They worshipped Girnar and then started their journey. They reached home and their parents were happy to see them.

That Road Trip lasted for four nights and five days but their friendship became stronger than before. They learnt lessons of life and team spirit. The road trip served as bond which would last for a life long time. Then, after some time Vicky went abroad and promised that he would return after two years. Raj concentrated on his work and became a successful teacher in his life. They regularly contact each other as brothers for life. The road trip was really amazing with lot of fun and also lot of new experiences. It changed their lives forever. It helped them to develop their personalities and it also helped them to be successful in their lives…. Raj has still continued such adventure and road trips…….
