Everything Happens For A Reason

Prolonged applause by the audience filled the intact auditorium as the presenter girl sauntered to the podium. The stage was festooned with huge calligraphic letters written on its background that read “15th ANNUAL FUNTION (Developer of the year CE/IT)”. The borders of the stage were adorned in golden and maroon curtains. And the entire stage was vividly lit up.

The exquisite looking presenter grinned at the audience and waited for the applause to come to a halt.

“So ladies and gentlemen, this was a very nimble contemporary dance item, presented by the students of Miraaj Dance Academy! Now it’s the time for you all to hold your breaths as we here, will announce the IT Developer of the year!” she beamed at the spectators with all her elegance and two girls stood beside her, with a trophy like souvenir placed in a tray.

The presenter took out a bright blue colored card out of a white envelop that bore the name of the winner.

“So ladies and gentlemen! The award for the best IT developer of the year goes to” the presenter announced and took a pause for the drum rolls.

“Mr. Vicky! From Prabhat Developing Firm!” she spoke merrily.

A huge round of applause echoed the atmosphere. Everyone cheered and applauded, except one man, sitting on the first chair of the second row. He just gave away a suppressed smile to the stage. He seemed to be in his early thirties, wearing spectacles and a courteous black suit. After few split seconds, he stood up and thanked the ones who bucked him up. Everyone had their eyes glued on him as he hiked to the stage elegantly. Few men with big names welcomed him to the stage and awarded him with the honor.

“and we all would love to hear few words from you Mr. Vicky!” the presenter called him to the podium. As Vicky took steps to the microphone, he had a gaze on the merry audience who all seemed equally happy as him.

But nothing was the same back in years. He stood there frozen as his mind got way back in time.

“What are you doing double battery?” the bully kid asked Vicky as he scribbled something on a piece of paper. He just gazed at him and shut his notebook. He never wanted to engage himself with other kids in any sort of argument or brawl, and besides his wants, he never had the courage for the same. Being a nerd and an aloof child, Vicky was always surrounded by the banters that his classmates would pass. He was always told that he was good for nothing, but he never opposed or rebelled. He was too shy and innocent for any rebel.

As the bully kid toddled away from him, he opened the notebook again and smiled at his masterpiece. In his amateur drawing, he had tried to draw a design of some new car. He grinned from ear to ear as he found his own design perfect enough. In the back of his mind, he thought that he would ask his dad to sell his design so that a new car could be originated. He felt himself rewarding.

“It’s a great score son! We’re so proud of you” and his father and mother both took him into the warm family hug. He felt content after seeing his father and mother beaming victoriously at his 12th board’s brilliant score.

“So! Your next big thing is IT! Kudos kid!” his father bucked him up.

He let out a cold sigh.

“Dad! I want to go for automobiles. It’s my passion and you both know it!” Vicky tried to start a tried and tested conversation over again.

“Son! We’ve discussed this earlier. We want you to go for IT. And look at your score! Are you not happy with what you achieved? And you’ll let it waste away for a thing that you can start anytime?” his father spoke after the smile faded away from his face. He wore a somber expression that somewhere hurt Vicky.

“But dad!” Vicky tried to oppose.

“Vicky. Give IT a shot. If nothing happens, you have my automobile firm as a strong option. Think about it son!” his father said again.

“Alright!” he spoke, hanging his head down. But making his parents joyous over again!

“First two weeks and I’m bored like I’ve been watching a chess tournament since ages!” Vicky grumbled.

“Stop complaining. I know it’s going to be your best thing soon” his father cheered him up.

As the phone got disconnected, his eyes got glued to the table of the cafeteria, where he sat, waiting for his three roomies-cum-new friends.

“Here they come!” he mumbled to himself, raising his right hand and waving it in the air to tell about his presence. Nikunj, Chirag and Chintan beamed at him as soon as they noticed him.

That was Vicky’s life now, the college, the hostel and the cafeteria plus, not to mention, the three musketeers that had made his life a little less tough.

“Guys! Get up!” Vicky went to the three of his roomies one after the other and shook each of them to pull them out of their slumbers.

He was greeted with hurl abuses from each of them.

“Please guys! You’ll have to check this out!” Vicky spoke but in vain. Neither of his friends woke up to check out the brand new software that he had managed to design in the span of one week. He returned back to his work station and gazed at his laptop’s screen, and his hand-book that had few codes scribbled down on it. He recalled the day when he had designed his masterpiece car, the feeling was the same. He grinned from ear to ear.

“I can really do it!” he mumbled and grinned again.

Four years of his graduation passed by as a thrash about. He had given his highest endeavors for his academics and he was exceptionally the brilliant student of his college. He and his friends were all a little more passionate about IT than any other student of the college. Everyone else did the degree just to get the degree, but they did it because they found it interesting.

They all stuck together, finding newer and newer things they can design and that kept them occupied with something fruitful every now and then.

They designed newer softwares and even new codes and tricks because they were too keen and curious to dig deeper and deeper.

“You know guys. IT is just like designing a new model of a car. It is shaped with the arising needs. As we work with it, we get acquainted with newer wants and needs and so we take newer and progressive steps ahead!” Vicky spoke to Nick, Chirag and Chintan, who listened to him carefully and agreed to his words.

That was the direction of their dexterous thought process, to strive for newer and better things!

The four of them would do all sorts of adventure and fun along with their mutual passion named IT. Each one of them was differently dexterous in the field they chose and that lead to the rise of four variant IT developers.

To top everything up, was Vicky’s mannerisms, he was shy as much as he was in his childhood but in different ways now. He was still the guy with the heart as innocent as his Double-battery version that was filled with the chaste desires of achieving what he wanted. He would help everyone in every possible ways he could.

Nothing can be an impediment between you and your interest, no matter what comes in your way, you’ll somehow find time for your interest, it’s a true fact.

So Vicky had learnt to do everything AS an interest and not WITH interest only. His toil and hard slog paid off admirably in form of his score. He topped the university exams but didn’t opt for any of the job offered to him.

“I want to start my own work” he answered when asked about the reasons.

It took Vicky, two long years, a great deal of uphill struggle, many sleepless nights and restless days to set up his own Developing firm. And along with that, he was working for the first and the foremost Passion of his life, Automobile designing with his father.

“I would only like to say few words that would sound cliché to you all but for me, they define my whole life! And the words are, “Everything Happens For A Reason!” If life changes the direction of your journey, choose it valiantly. Because I know, it’s going to be a totally different journey altogether, and I promise you, it’ll lead you to heights if you give it your best shot and honest rigorous efforts. All we need to do is to embrace what we’ve gifted with and it’ll be the best thing for us. Life is what we make it. Let’s try making it right!” he spoke, smiling graciously.

“ And in the end, what we’ll get is, lots of things like THIS” he said pointing to his memento, “and lots of satisfaction” he added, bowing his head.

Thunderous applause followed his words as he strolled down the stage. He smiled and thanked god for switching the paths of his journey every now and then.
