Trembling Shadows
A romantic, psychological thriller

“Please… Please…” he removed her hands from there and started kissing her. When he kissed on her forehead, a sort of pleasure swept all over her body. She clutched him with her both hands strongly making it almost impossible to him to move. But her effort seemed quite inadequate as he started moving slowly down from the forehead. His lips lingered on her lips a little longer savouring the smooth cold touch before intruding his tongue into her mouth. How long they enjoyed that kiss she did not notice. But his experiment with her body did not stop there. She just closed her eyes and let him do whatever he wanted to do on her body. There was uncontrollable joy and pleasure in her while he was working with her downward parts. She could feel hot drops of tears flowing down on her cheeks automatically with uncontrollable ecstasy.
Tanuja could not manage herself to sit calmly in the chair anymore. She stood up impatiently. Her mouth became dry. Why she had remembered all that now after more than twenty five years? She wondered as her body was longing for that again. She felt guilty as it wanted that from Sasank, not from Rajesh. Why it was so? why her body and mind going in a wrong way? Why she could not control either of them?
Then a thought occurred to her making her horrific. It was all because of the place. Yes, she thought convincingly. Because of the evil filled in this place she was getting such type of bad thoughts. Now she could sense the presence of the evil around her. It was what crept into her and influencing her mind and body and creating wrong thoughts and wrong longings. She did not know why but suddenly she became quite weak. Even she wanted so strongly to go away from the room she could not do that. She came back and once again dumped herself into the chair. Then she looked blankly at the old woman again.

“Is it is not better that we go downstairs now?” Rajesh asked. “It seems that we have stayed here rather long time.”
“It is the best place to stay in this whole house” Anand said. “What we should do going down stairs?”
“His dearest wife went downstairs, so he wanted to go there” Malathi said looking at Rajesh “Is it is not so?”
“It is not at all so” Rajesh said. “Most of the time we spent together. A little separation like this between us in fact a little variety we feel.” Without bothering with their facial expressions he continued. “If most of you people wanted to remain here some more time, I have no objection to give company.”
“Not most of us, almost all of us wanted to stay here some more time dad” Sameera said.
There was silence for some time. None of them could think of what to say then. There was not even that drizzle outside at that time. Climate was cool and less ominous than before.
“If you don’t think I want to do some sort of experiment with you Rajesh. It would certainly give us good time pass as well” Vinod said.
“You do experiment that is too with me!” Vinod’s asking so evoked a surprising expression on the face of Rajesh. “First tell me what it is”
The people around there started feeling some excitement. They were ready to welcome anything that would be helpful in killing time “But I must have your agreement to that. At the same time I cannot say it would be hundred percent successful” Vinod said looking into the face of Rajesh.
“I have asked you to tell me what it is first. You did not do that” Rajesh accused.
“Yes, what uncle said is right. First tell all of us what it is. Then we shall discuss whether it is worth experimenting or not” Sunanda said. To her and to most of the people her father was an interesting figure. He knew a lot about psychology and other mind related matters. She was expecting that her father would come with something interesting to get rid of the boredom.
Sunanda’s face was bright as usual but Vinod still could trace the signs of distress in it. Even though he was her father why could not he see it before, he surprised. Then he looked at Anand there. It had become difficult to him to trace out any different feeling in him. He was appearing as usual. He flashed a small smile when both their eyes were met. “You have created an interest in me too, uncle. Please don’t make us suffer with this unbearable suspense” Anand said. He certainly would be very clever and good actor if he was talking like that despite the differences between him and Sunanda, Vinod thought.
“I tell, but it needs little patience in all of you. It needs some explanation. Especially Rajesh must agree to go through a little ordeal to make my idea successful.”
“It is very unjustifiable that you are asking like this without saying what you are really want to do” as Anand was talking like that Vinod really felt whether there were any differences between him and Sunanda or it was all just Malathi’s imagination.. “I think Rajesh uncle certainly agree if you explain it to him without much delay”
Vinod breathed until his lungs filled with their maximum extent then hissed the air out relaxing himself fully. “I am a hypnotist as well besides a psychologist. I have hypnotized many a one and got wonderful results.”
“Is it is anything to do with hypnotism?” the surprise in Rajesh was infectious.
“Kindly let me complete what I am saying” Vinod pleaded looking around into all their faces.
“Yes dad, please be patient. Hypnotism is a very interesting thing to me” Sameera said. “I never have seen a person being hypnotized before but heard about this a lot”. Even after saying that too her mouth remained open a little showing her small white teeth beautifully out.
“To most of us it is” Anand shared the same feeling.
“Then you may please continue. Until you ask me to open my mouth, I would not do that at all.” Rajesh said.
Vinod emptied the chair in which he sat then and went to the middle of the room as if he were going to make a lengthy talk. “You have come here with your parents when you were just four or five years old. You had heard and seen what your father talked to your grandmother and whatever other conversations gone in among those who were presented here then. I agree that your mind was not matured that much to understand the conversation gone through among them then. But it had the capacity to store the sounds as a tape recorder does. In my opinion, mechanically, without your particularly doing anything, all those conversations recorded somewhere in your brain as sound impressions just like the sound impressions on a ribbon of a tape recorder cassette. Now if I can manage to take you that long back in age under hypnosis and get your mind produce those conversations out through your mouth as a media just like we manage to hear sound recording from the cassette through the media of tape recorder, we may know what exactly gone in between your parents and that grandma. What do you say?”
There was complete silence again. Outside once more there was the small drizzle. By the expressions in their faces Vinod realized they had understood what he said but could not fully comprehend that. Vinod need to explain them two times more what really his idea was.
“However much successful and accomplished hypnotist you may be” Rajesh said while there was bewildering expression on his face “It is impossible to take me to such a long time back and make me remember all that happened then”
“Yes, dad. What you are thinking of yourself? I am really feeling doubt whether you know about hypnotism.” looking at his father with suspicious eyes Sunanda said.
“No one has doubted my hypnotic skills in this way at any time before” Vinod said angrily.
“What is wrong in experimenting in the way our uncle said? If it works, it works. If it doesn’t work there is nothing we are going to loss. Is it is not so uncle?” Anand asked looking at Vinod.
“What my son in law said is hundred percent right.” Vinod said “even I cannot give any surety of success of my experiment, I can say that there would be no ill effects or loss. Besides it will provide us with good time pass.”
“Then I am ready to go through that” Rajesh said. “When you are going to perform it?” he asked curiously.
“In the afternoon, after taking our lunch and a little nap. In this very room itself.” There was new enthusiasm in Vinod now. “I am not seeing any other place in this house is suitable to it.”
“I shall certainly be presented here then.” Aravind said. “I have seen hypnotism before and I myself know this technique to some extent. It is always very much interesting to me too.” there was a glee in his eyes while he was saying that.
“You all can present. But the environment must be completely peaceful. There should be no disturbances at all. Then only it works better.” Vinod put the condition in before itself.
Rajesh wanted to say something then and stopped as Tanuja entered into that room. She was appearing a lot disturbed. Others were not that much particular to notice the change in her but Rajesh found that. Why that much of a change in her? he surprised. Was something happened downstairs?
“Now the audience complete. We are discussing a very interesting thing until this moment” Rajesh said observing whether her grim facial expression would change with that or not.
The sudden lit up in her face appeared artificial to him. “Is that so? What it is then?” there was no chair vacant in that room then so she went to the bed and sat on it beside Sunanda. It was a little uncomfortable to her to be seated on that so without back support. She was too exhausted with her thoughts to go upto the wall and lean on it for back support.
“Vinod is going to hypnotize me in the afternoon to extract complete details of my first visit here” turning himself towards her Rajesh explained what they talked just before.
“It appears a little bit interesting to me too. But is this all necessary? What loss would be there if we don’t know what they have talked on that day?” in fact she did not like at all what they had planned. But she did not want to spoil their pleasure completely.
“We have to pass our time. An hour is passing like a day here. What else is there to us to do to get good time pass? We cannot go anywhere in this rain. In this way at least we can get rid of our boredom” Rajesh knew his pleadings with Tanuja never go in vain.
Tanuja breathed heavily, hissed out and nodded her head. “I agree. Would there be any negative effects to you because of that?”
“How there would be any negative effects because of hypnotism? It seems you don’t know anything about that.” Vinod said fearing that the prospect of his experiment with hypnotism may dwindle with her fears.
“Really I know only a little about hypnotism.” Tanuja paused for a moment and then said, “But I know one thing for sure. You are our well wisher and you never would do anything that is harmful to us.”
“Thank you for your trust on me.” The fear in Vinod vanished at once and his face beamed with happiness.
“Aravind, don’t you know anything like this to do here? I know that you know a lot about witchcraft.” Looking at Aravind, Anand asked.
“I too know about hypnotism. But I don’t want to touch it as Vinod uncle going to perform it. There is one other thing which would be very much interesting to perform here, if you people agree to that.” in a slow voice Aravind said. “But I am afraid you people may not agree to it”
