FINAL OUTCOME
Young industrialist Madhuresh is walking restlessly with his wife Rekha in front of the emergency ward of the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences. Their four-year-old son Rahul is to undergo an operation. Rahul is their only child. That is why both their hearts are pounding. Madhuresh, who is always proud of money,
is today addressing the hospital's ward boy as 'bhai sahab'.
The preparations for the operation are complete. Madhuresh pleaded with the doctor, "Doctor Sahab, please save my child, no matter how much money it costs."
"Money is not the cure for every problem, Mr. Don't panic, be courageous. Pray to the Almighty. Everything will be fine." Doctor William consoled Madhuresh and went to do the operation.
The door of the operation room is closed. Madhuresh and Rekha are both walking outside. Each moment seems like an eternity to them. Rekha said to Madhuresh in a restless voice, "Will my Rahul be fine?"
"Why won't he be fine? Didn't you hear what the doctor was saying?"
"I don't know why I am so scared?"
At that moment the door of the operation room opened. Doctor William came out. Madhuresh and Rekha rushed to him and asked - "Doctor Sahab, how is our Rahul?"
"The operation has been successful but Rahul is not out of the danger yet. Get these injections and medicines from the market. If God wishes, Rahul will get well." Madhuresh took the prescription from the doctor's hand and immediately called the driver and asked him to bring the medicines quickly. The driver took the car and went to the market to buy medicines.
Rekha sat down on a bench. She is thinking about what she has done for Rahul. She doesn't know how many vows she has made, or how many fasts she has kept. She has visited many Maulvis, visited doctors for years. Then finally, after ten years of marriage, this child was born after a major operation and the doctors declared Rekha unfit to have a child in the future.
Rahul is the centre of all her hopes. He is the only heir to her immense wealth.
The driver has brought the medicines and has delivered them inside. The doctors have started their work but oblivious to all this, Rekha is still lost in the world of thoughts.
"Rekha, lost in what thoughts?" Madhuresh said, placing his hand on her shoulder.
"Nothing, I was thinking that you are often out for business work but I spend every moment with Rahul. If something happens to him then..."
"Oh no, why do you think such things?" Madhuresh interrupted her.
Then both of them became silent seeing the ward boy coming towards them. The ward boy said, "You all have been called inside."
Rekha and Madhuresh both reached inside with the ward boy. Dr. William and many other doctors were sitting inside. There were signs of disappointment and fatigue on everyone's faces. Madhuresh and Rekha's hearts started beating with the fear of something bad happening. Both of them asked together, "How is Rahul, doctor sahab?"
"We tried a lot but we are sorry Mr. Gupta that we could not save Rahul."
"No! This cannot happen." Both Madhuresh and Rekha screamed together. "Perhaps this was what fate had decided, Mr. Gupta. We tried our best. Rahul's operation was done successfully but as soon as the injection was given, his condition worsened instead of improving. After testing, it was found that the injection was fake. That fake injection was the cause of Rahul's death."
"My Rahul! My dear!" Rekha ran towards Rahul's bed with a heart-rending scream and fell unconscious in the middle.
Fake injection! An earthquake-like expression appeared on Madhuresh's face. The news spread like wildfire in the entire hospital that a child had died due to a fake injection.
Many people gathered around Seth Madhuresh. People in the crowd started talking about different things. A young man asked, "Doctor Sahab, which company's injection was that?" "'New Life Drugs' company was written on it. But this company will be fake and no one will be able to trace it."
Hearing the name 'New Life Drugs Company', Madhuresh felt as if someone had poured molten glass into his ears. His memories wandered far away from the noise of the crowd.
Ten years ago, he was an ordinary doctor in a small town called Sheeshgarh near the metropolis. He had a diploma in BIMS. His practice was not doing well. Somehow, the household was dragging on.
Madhuresh was an ambitious young man brought up in modern civilization. He started making medicines when he saw that his medical practice was not working. Some income increased by selling drugs, but Madhuresh was always obsessed with earning more and more money. He always dreamt of becoming rich. At such a time, Madhuresh met a young man named Veerpal who used to supply fake medicines. Veerpal suggested to Madhuresh that if he started making fake medicines, he could become a millionaire in a year or two. Madhuresh's mind was not ready to do such a disgusting thing. Rekha also opposed this.
Veerpal explained, "Money washes away all evils and sins. Money is the God of today."
Without money, the vehicle of society does not move forward even an inch. These days idealism is no longer the age. You tell me, what have you achieved by becoming Harishchandra? If you don't feel like it, then start making one or two fake medicines along with the original ones."
After Veerpal explained the ins and outs of it, Madhuresh started making one or two fake medicines. He started earning a good income from it. Madhuresh's attraction towards fake medicines kept increasing. On Veerpal's advice, he started making fake medicines under the fake name of the 'New Life Drugs Company'. This company started operating on a large scale. Veerpal's men used to supply the medicines.
Gradually, his business started flourishing all over the country. Madhuresh bought a luxurious bungalow in the metropolis. An Ambassador car replaced the worn-out bicycle. Within five years, he had all the modern amenities.
Doctor Madhuresh now became Seth Madhuresh. He started being counted among the young industrialists. Rekha initially opposed this work, but under the attraction of new jewelry and sarees, her voice of opposition also gradually weakened.
The one thing that was missing in Madhuresh's life was fulfilled with Rahul's birth. Now there was happiness in his life. He started understanding the importance of money. He was not worried at all about the fact that he had earned this money by poisoning society.
For the last year, their happiness was eclipsed due to a tumor in Rahul's stomach and today after the operation, Rahul's life ended. This thing is piercing Madhuresh's heart like a thorn that the fake injection made by his company took Rahul's life.
He has destroyed himself with his own hands. He wants to shout and tell people that he is a son-killer. Just then Madhuresh came back to the present after feeling someone's hand on his shoulder.
Doctor William said - "What are you thinking about Mr. Gupta? Your wife's condition is getting worse. Take her to Doctor Ghosh's chamber immediately and get her checked up."
After examining Rekha, Dr. Ghosh said, "The patient is deeply shocked by the death of her son. She has lost her memory. Get her admitted to the mental ward. It will take her two to three years to recover completely.
Madhuresh felt as if the whole world was spinning.
He thinks that Rahul's dead body is on one side and semi-deranged Rekha on the other, this is the final outcome of his disgusting business. His arrogance that all happiness can be bought with money is now crumbling and his dreams are shattering one by one.
