Chapter 1

Something is wrong

Year 1890 Ratnagarh.... Ratnagarh is a village with a population of 300-400. The houses of the villagers are made of mud. The only means of transportation in the village is the kaicha road. Which turns completely into mud during the rainy season. Then there is only one way to get out of the village, that is to go by boat through the river. The kaicha road leading to Ratnagarh village is a straight path and on the left and right side of the road are mud houses of the residents of Ratnagarh. This straight road goes straight ahead leaving behind the houses of the village and in thirty- forty minutes the road ends by stopping in front of the huge two-storey white painted Ratnagarh palace, innumerable rooms of Thakur, the only king of Ratnagarh...

Thakur Thakur is the only king of Ratnagarh village. His nature is worthy of a king. That is to say, all the virtues are developed in him. The people of Ratnagarh respect him for his loving, friendly, helpful nature. Due to good holidays, overall people are living their lives happily. Hirabai is the name of Rani Sahab of Ratnagarh, who is the wife of Thakur and her character is similar to that of Maharaja. The first prince in the royal family of Maharaja is Kunwar Singh, who is twenty-five years old. Maharaja also has a (daughter) princess, that princess's name is Veervati and she is twenty-one years old. Just like the name Veervati, the combination of her looks and physique can put even a divine Apsara to shame. She has just entered youth.
(So friends, let's get enough information about the family, then see if the character is eligible, until we meet.)
Today, as the sun set in Ratnagarh, the kingdom of darkness started spreading on the horizon, it became night. The moon was not visible today because it had not gone to the Akash Ganga, but those small, twinkling moons were seen rising. The kites were busy doing their work, chirping as usual. As soon as the night fell, the residents of Ratnagarh started hanging lanterns on a wall near the door outside their mud houses. Zap-zap, the red light of the lantern started guarding outside each mud house of Ratnagarh. Thakur was watching this amazing scene. The evening was passing like a row of pillars on the highway of a city.
One by one, twenty-thirty diyas were thrown down and lit quickly in the same way as lanterns were lit in the population of Ratnagarh. Maharaj was watching this miraculous scene of Ratnagarh village below with his hand on the window frame of his rest room in his palace. The cool evening breeze was blowing through the window behind the Maharaja's open black hair. There was a big bed in the room behind the Maharaja. There was a round table next to the bed, on that table were kept various fruits like apples, grapes, guava and bananas in a round bowl. There were paintings of four gods in the room, some others on the walls. The door of the room was open. There was a square table near the open window near the door. Maharaj's crown and sword were kept on that table. Maharaj was standing alone in front of the window and looking at the village's road curiously. From the same open door, a black figure walked towards Maharaja. After walking ten-twelve steps, as soon as the figure came near Maharaja, it put its hand on his shoulder. Thus Maharaja looked back
"Maharani..!" Saying this, the Maharaja again started looking at the muddy road from the window. The person who was passing through the door behind the Maharaja was the Maharaja's wife and Maharani Heerabai
"Yes, Maharaj! We had sent a message to you through one of our servants to have dinner. But you did not come..! That is why I came here." Even on this statement of the Maharani, the Maharaja was looking straight ahead from the window. The Maharani again said, "Let us watch and eat." Heerabai completed her sentence.
"Maharani Heerabai! I told you yesterday that three weeks ago the son of a distant British government friend of ours got married. But despite being invited to that wedding, we could not attend. Because of this, he is a little angry with us. That is why I have invited his son and daughter- in-law to have dinner with us!" The Maharaja said standing in the window behind him. Then the Maharani said on his statement.
"Maharaja, you seem a little worried!" M:Hirabai continued after waiting for a while. "Has something happened..?" M:Hirabai nodded his head seriously at this sentence of M:Hirabai and paused for a while before speaking. "Yes Maharani! We are worried about those two newlyweds!" Maharaj said worriedly. "But why, Maharaj?" M:Hirabai said without understanding. Maharaj looked ahead from the window and blinked once or twice and then turned back and looked at Maharani in a serious tone and said. "Maharaja, how do I tell you now!" Maharaj took a look at Maharani. Then, in the next look, he took his eyes off her face. Then he blinked once or twice. He again looked ahead and said. "For the past few days, some strange figures have been seen at the gate of our Ratnagarh village from evening to morning. The soldiers guarding the gate are seeing some strange figures seen by passersby in the village." Maharaj was talking and telling one thing to another. And the queen was listening to them very attentively. "So half the villagers say that a human-like figure used to stand in the dark at the gate." Maharaj slowly turned back and started speaking, looking at the queen with big eyes and a special kind of fear on his face. "He used to stand in the dark with the support of some black cloth. The body of that shape was four or five feet taller than a human's height. It was like a devil." Hirabai's heart sank as soon as she heard the name of the devil.
