You, Me and Desert - 18

As soon as the sun rose, it was like a cool fire and burning ice for Kabir, even if it was something else for the world. It felt as if the thread of life had returned to his hands. Life had come back into his body.

Rohan lay there asleep, completely unaware.

Looking at Rohan, Kabir felt a wave of affectionate love. Look at him, what a drama king he turned out to be! He spent the whole night making up stories and somehow sent the little sir to Kabir’s room.

Such friends understand both the purpose of friendships and the pain involved.

Electricity began to run through Kabir's body.

Soon, the alarm rang, waking Rohan as well. Both of them quickly got busy preparing for the competition. They organized their papers, cards, and other items in their bags. They were supposed to reach the field after breakfast.

As soon as Rohan woke up, Kabir said, “Hey, did you fool me last night?” When Kabir complained to Rohan, he looked at him like a fool.

“What happened? What did I do?” Rohan asked.

“You vanished from here after saying all sorts of things and sent the little sir here? Where did you sleep last night?” Kabir exclaimed.

Rohan was stunned. He truly had no idea. He said in amazement, “What? The little sir came here last night???”.

Hearing this, Rohan was taken aback. He worried that perhaps there was a complaint against him for not being in his room last night.

Kabir was surprised to hear Rohan’s words. He thought, “So, does Rohan really not know anything?” He had assumed that sending the little sir was all part of Rohan’s plan. But it seemed Rohan had no clue.

Kabir left Rohan in shock and went into the bathroom. Rohan stretched out and went back to sleep. He still had some time left. They were supposed to reach for breakfast by nine.

The competition was set to begin at eleven.

Both of them hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep, but they refreshed themselves with a shower. Today’s dress code was also predetermined. They were supposed to wear white clothes.

Kabir was shining in a white shirt, white half-pants, and white shoes. His face had a fantastic glow, as if his body had received some secret tonic.

When Rohan came out of the bathroom, he paused upon seeing Kabir.

“Boss, we have to go for breakfast, right? Why are you already in white? What if you get a stain?” Rohan said.

Kabir replied with a smile, “If it’s meant to be, life will get better. There won’t be any stains.”

“I’m not taking that risk. I want to enjoy breakfast. I’ll change my clothes later,” Rohan said carelessly, starting to put on a colorful T-shirt and sandals.

Today, the cafeteria scene was also worth seeing. Most of the players had come dressed up. The clinking of utensils and the aroma of the dishes made the atmosphere even more enchanting.

Kabir and Rohan had a light breakfast at that time. There was still about three-quarters of an hour left. Back in their room, Rohan began to get ready at a relaxed pace while Kabir kept moving around restlessly.
