Rain Flower - 20

Rain Flower

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

After that she had seen that they both got their divorce without much delay. How long she would have thought about the past she did not know but came into the world by Rose’s calling her.

“What you are really thinking of that deep? I have called you four times by now.”

She got off from the chair she sat, went near to her and asked her “Tell me. What is the matter?”

“Oh, Liz.” Rose put her hand around her neck and kissed on her right cheek. “Come. We both sit and talk.” She led her to the nearby bed there.

“It’s a pleasure to me talking with you.” When they both were slumped on the bed there, Liza said.

“Sometimes I myself cannot understand why I am like this. My mind is in turmoil. You are a psychiatrist. Can you put me at peace?” going near to the wall there and leaning her back on it, Liza asked her.

“You are more matured in thinking than I also” there came a frown on Rose’s forehead. “I always have the opinion so on you……..….” She tried to say something more.

“But you are a qualified psychiatrist. You better know the psych than the other people.” Liza said.

“Sure I am” Rose smiled. “And I am hundred percent help you in the way you want.”

“Then is there any wrong in my thinking? I thought it was just like paying a debt back and gave myself to that old man and you did not like it at all at that time.”

“I was immature then.” Rose said.

“How you are feeling about it now? Did I not do a wrong at that time?” Liza knitted her brows together.

“Absolutely no.” Rose said with a firm voice. “You not only paid our debt back but gave the necessary to a starving man.”

“Would you also can do that Rose? Would you also give yourself to someone other than Williams for any reason?” Liza looked straight into the face of Rose.

“Yes, I give myself if the circumstances demand sister.” Rose said without any delay. She knew very well what her sister wanted to hear from her. She did not bother to see how much she meant whatever she was saying. Putting her sister at ease was the main aim to her then. “I never do mean that we can lead a free way of life and we can have sex with anyone we want. But if the circumstances are like that, just in your case, I see no mistake in sharing our body.”

“But he did not ask for it. I gave it to him myself.” Liza closed her eyes. “Circumstances were not at all compelling at that time.”

“That was your greatness!” Rose went to her sister and put her right hand on her left shoulder. “You understood his necessity and volunteered yourself to do that. You did a great service there. And you saved us both from the lot of indebted feeling also.”

Then Liza opened her eyes, looked into the face of her sister and smiled. “Then the gang rape! I just cannot understand how I could excuse them so. Any woman can forgive a rapist like that and take that rape easy? It was a gang rape too.”

“Rape, however horrendous, heinous and disgusting, it is sure a different sort of crime. This needs to be understood from all the angles possible. There are two types in rapes also. The first set of rapes result from long periods of starvation of sex and crazy driving force of sex. And there are rapes only to humiliate and insult women to the highest degree possible but not from crazy driving force of sex”.  Rose paused for a moment.

“Can the rapes because of crazy driving force of sex be excused?” Liza intervened and asked in that little silence.

Rose clipped her inner lip between her teeth frames and released it slowly. “No rapes by whatever reason should be excused. All the rapists must be punished in the same way. Because rape is such an insult to woman.”

“So there was wrong in my thinking and in my excusing those bastards.” Once again there was despair in Liza’s face.

“Once again it is your greatness sister. Even being a psychiatrist, I also cannot understand the human psyche and behavior as you understood. Only very great women like you can excuse such mistakes. We have to have lot of courage and kindness in us to excuse such rogues. Just because of your strength in thinking you could excuse them. You are quite strong in thinking than any of us. I do really appreciate to have a mindset like you. I am feeling proud having you as my sister.” squeezing her shoulder with her hand, Rose said.

“So, there is no wrong in my thinking, in my way of behaving.”

“Never even let an idea like that into you. In my opinion every woman must be just like you.” There was appreciation in the face of Rose.

Liza instantly hugged Rose and kissed on her cheek. “You indeed put my mind at peace.” She said.

“I want you to further probe into this matter.” Jasmine said to John. “So far you did nice work. If you try you sure can know where Tippu is and what he made my brother to see in that palace.”

“We have given the police report and now it is the work of the police. Why you are trying to involve me in this?” they both sat in his room in the chairs facing each other.

“I cannot believe in the police much. I have more confidence on you.” She smiled.

“Thanks.” He nodded his head and got off from the chair and went to the middle of the room. “On one hand I am thinking that it may be better that you don’t worry too much to know what your brother had seen in that room on that day.”

“Why you are thinking like that?” she knitted her brows.

“I cannot explain that. It is just my subconscious suggestion.”

“Nothing doing. I must know about that. There sure would be an explanation to that.” She adjusted in her chair for more comfort. “The only man to help me in this regard and trust heart-fully is you.”

He came to her and kissed on her right cheek. “Thank you for the trust.” And sat again in the same chair opposite to her.  After few seconds serious thinking he said “I cannot give any explanation. It is just a feeling. Better you drop this matter completely.”

“I never drop. I must know about it.” she was stubborn.

“But I just don’t know what to do from now on. Where I can find him? Moreover once we have given a police report my intervention in the matter would be considered illegal.”

“It is not at all so. You are over interpreting the matter.” She smiled. “You are going to do in the way I ask you.”

“You are hypnotizing me.” He smiled.

“May be I am.” She laughed. “But you are going to find out the secret we all do want to know.”

“Whatever that thing may be” he paused for a moment looking into her eyes. “Why Tippu wanted your brother to see it?”

“That rogue.” She raged again. “How can I say why he wanted my brother to see it?”

“Calm yourself and try to think without emotion.” He said “Why he wanted your brother to see it?”

She closed her eyes and thought about that for sometime. “No I cannot” she opened her eyes and said.

“He wanted to take revenge on some people I think. If your brother would see the particular thing those particular people on whom he wanted to take revenge get loss. So he did it.” He thoughtfully said.

“Who those people can be?” she asked and clipped her lower lip between her teeth frames. He liked her in that posture much and wanted to hug her and kiss her instantly but he controlled.

“Chief is one of them and whoever he may be he is powerful. Tippu is expecting danger from him.”

Jasmine was listening carefully what he was saying.

“Moreover Tippu did not expect this type of reaction in your brother. He expected the reaction in a different way in your brother after seeing it. I think it upset all his plans.”

‘Good reasoning.” Jasmine nodded her head.

“If my guessing is right.” John said. “That Chief might have done something already to this Tippu.”

“Once again good reasoning.” Jasmine nodded her head. “Still I wish you to know where we can get him.”

“How much you know about Rita and her family?” he suddenly asked her.

“Her father is a family friend to us. I pretty well know about her and her family.” Suddenly anger crept onto her face again. “I become angry whenever I think about her.”

“It seems that you are pretty angry with her because of her past love affair with your brother.”

“Not for that. But because of her infidelity towards my brother. You don’t know how much my brother became upset due to that.” She paused for a moment. “I thought in the beginning that broken love affair was the reason for my brother’s madness.”

“I am having a hunch that Rita and her father might be known about what your brother had seen in that palace and who is that Chief.”

“How and why?” she suddenly became serious.

“I said it is just a hunch. I cannot give the reasons for it.” He said.

She nodded her head. “Partly I am also feeling like that.” She said with a small voice.

“I do want to talk with that family.”

“My God! Are you going to ask them straight about it?” her face immediately contracted with frowns.

“Are you thinking that I am a fool?” he laughed. “I know how to talk with them.”

“One more very, very important thing” Jasmine suddenly said.

“What it is?” John knitted his brows together and made a straight look into her face.

“Mom wants to talk with you. She asked me to tell you to meet her.”

“But for why and what? Did you tell her about our love affair?” there came a troubling expression on his face.

“Yes, I did.” Jasmine nodded her head. “But I did not do it intentionally. I just have to tell during some conversation. Anyhow she knows now that we are in love.”

“Not very bad. Sooner or later she has to be known. May be to give a warning to me to maintain distance from you, she wants to meet me.”

“Cannot you be optimistic at all? She did not appear to me so then.”

“When I have to meet her?”

“You decide. When you want to meet her?”

“Tomorrow evening”

“Alright. I tell her so.” Jasmine nodded her head.

“My God! Is it is true?” after hearing what the Police Inspector said Margaret exclaimed.

“Unfortunately it is.” The police inspector said. “He was butchered like an animal and dumped into an old well. Just because of the foul smell he could be found out. Only by the driving license in his pocket we could know that he was the person need to be found out.”

She breathed deep and hissed out “Whatever may be his mistakes I never wished him to die like this.”

“I am not thinking like that.” Dibbu said angrily. “That bastard got what he deserved. After knowing he was the reason for our Williams Sir’s madness, I have lost all my love and affection on him.”

Jasmine also became aghast on hearing that. “Shall we say this to our brother mom?” she asked her.

“Why do we say this at all to him? He does not remember even his name. Moreover he becomes himself more and more disturbed if he knows this.” Margaret said.

“I agree with you.” Jasmine said.

After talking some more time with Margaret, the Inspector left.

“Have you asked John to talk to me?” Margaret asked her daughter straightly.

“He meets you in the evening mom.” Jasmine said. Hearing that, Margaret nodded her head.
