***

Williams was lonely in his room and became a victim to his cruel mind which relentlessly torturing him by denying him access to most of his past memories. He became frustrated, feeling more and more helpless and did not understand why he could not remember any of his past himself before that particular incident. In fact he did not want to remember all his past but his mind instigating him, prompting him to remember about it. Why the thoughts troubling him to remember his past becoming more and more he could not understand. He was trying to practice the suggestions given by his psychiatrist, who recently became his wife, which appeared worked in the beginning stopped giving any positive result later on. Thinking how to get rid of these bloody thoughts, while torturing himself to remember about his past, he leaned back and took his head into his both hands. ‘How nice it would be if I die now?’

“Will….what is happening?” there was the same smooth touch of her hand on his shoulder, the smooth, tender touch, which always would sooth him, give him the pleasure and anticipation, worked in the same way this time also. He instantly felt soothed a little and took that hand into his hands immediately and squeezed it.

“I just cannot bear this pain…..I just don’t know but very much want to remember my past…….better if I die rather than suffer like this.”

“Never….Never….” she slumped herself beside him on the sofa and put both of her hands around his neck, hugged him hard and kissed on his right cheek. The hugging, the kiss were just automatic, resulted from her abundant love towards him rather than anything else but have their dramatic affect instantly. The thoughts which were troubling him like scorpions disappeared at once.

“I told you many a time…. Don’t feel worry about those thoughts.” She saw the relaxation spread on his face and knew why it came that fast. She hugged him even more tightly.

“Saying so is easier to you. But dear thoughts are not as much harmless and innocent as you are thinking of them.” He complained.

“If not so …………….what they are then?”  her beautiful laughter, however many times he heard it, he wanted to hear again and again which had the same affect all the time on him.

“Crushing, piercing, torturing, teasing ……... they are hunting dogs……… leopards……...”

The shivering in his voice told her how much he was struggling. She knew his mind was furiously trying to remember the past, but none of his past events came full fledged into his mind not even in considerable measure but all the time just as simple pieces to crush, pierce, torture and tease him as he said.

He made himself straight in the sofa, released her hold around him and looked straight into her eyes.

“Remembered anything so far?” she asked him.

“Very little…..….very little……….just little bits and pieces ………. only to torture me.”

Her knitted brows, the frowns on her forehead told him that she became the serious psychiatrist again.

“I am going to prescribe some more medicines……”

“I cannot gulp any more tablets….your suggestions are little better than these medicines.”

She laughed seeing the serious expression on his face and the seriousness in her substantially lost. “I give you the both. Don’t worry.

“Please no medicines……….” he started pleading. “……….I am having very disgusting feeling after taking those tablets.”

“But how you would be completely cured if you are against taking medicines?”

Silence ensued immediately and for few seconds either of them could not think of what to say.

“What exactly happened to me?” he said it as if to himself. He asked that question many a time to her and she could not give a satisfying answer to him at any time. The reason for that was she also could not find out what happened to him to become like that.

“Your mother found you swooned in that old palace. For how long you were so in it she did not know. But when you came to your senses you were mildly mad just staring all the time ahead you. It took more than…………..”

“One month to you to make me atleast like this.” he nodded his head helplessly. “It may have been better that I remained mildly mad so rather than suffering in this way.”

“It may have been better for you to remain like that but not to any of your relatives.” With a measuring tone Rose said. “It is indeed a great achievement and advancement in your case Will. I promise you that I can make you your usual self in short span of time.”

“But what happened to me in that palace, I cannot understand!” There was pain in his voice and his whole body became rigid and hands turned into fists.  She knew it was a red sign and he was trying to tread onto an even more dangerous land. She had to deal with it carefully.

“It is because of lack of oxygen. Rarely but sometimes it happens like that. If our brain is deprived of oxygen for more than a minute such types of things happen. In our opinion you brain has been lacked of oxygen for more than five minutes. You are lucky that not much damage happened to your brain.” She said the same lie which she has been saying to him whenever he asked that question.

“Forgetting past like this is indeed quite torturing to anyone” breaking the ensued silence Rose said again. “But you can deal with it. I am with you. Your beloved wife, a famous psychiatrist.” She smiled garlanding her hands again around his neck and kissing on his left cheek this time.

“I am indeed very lucky” he reciprocated with a kiss on her right cheek. “Let me know one thing first. How you could fall in love with me while I was in such mad, helpless and dirty condition?”

“You attracted me at the first sight itself. Even you were mad, even you were helpless, you appeared handsome to me.” She paused and neither of them wanted to release themselves from that love-hold. “When your case has been entrusted to me completely, I took it as a challenge. I did not have even a vaguest idea that I would fall in love with you. I thought I could make you normal easily. But it did not happen like that. You remained mildly mad like that for more than twenty days and your mother became irritated. My senior was in the mood to change me. Then ………………………” her cheeks were blushed as she remembered what she did to him to make him come to his senses. Unless with abundant love on him, she never could have done that.

He kissed on both her cheeks. “On one hand this madness did me a great good. It gave you to me. If I have not become mad like that I would never have got you like this.” the expression in his face told her that he indeed meant that. She smiled in herself. She too was in love with him as much as he was in love with her. Either just before doing that or while doing that or even after that she never felt regret for what she did to make him to get his senses back.

For then also she knew that was the only way to her to soothe him and settle him. The small kiss on his lips looking into his eyes surprisingly had the effect she wanted. Suddenly the frowns on his forehead were cleared and a small smile was erupted on his lips and she found herself quite tight in his hug.

Both of them knew the next process would be inconvenient on the sofa and he got up slowly leading her into the bedroom. She remained silent while he was pinning her onto the bed and maneuvering himself on the top of her. The desire in her rose like fire as he was planting hot kisses on her face and she felt amazed while he was undressing her and she barely aware when she was made completely nude. He had no partiality and started undressing himself also. The simple small smile continued like that on her lips while he was making himself naked.

When that was finished and they both were side by side she held his neck in her gentle hold and kissed on his right cheek. “I know your position now. You are coping with your situation in the best way. I am feeling satisfied that I have become successful in making you normal.”

He looked into her eyes with a smile on his lips. “Are you really thinking that you are hundred percent successful? If it is so, why cannot I remember any of my past still? Why my mental capacities have not become hundred percent normal?” looking quizzically into her eyes he asked her.

“Oh, Will. Your suffering to remember your past is only a temporary stage. You gradually start remembering everything of your past. Just be patient.” She hissed out heavily.

“Cannot you make me remember my past through hypnotism? You are a best hypnotist also.” Looking hopefully into her face, he asked her.

“I can of course but it is not safe. Rather than making you remember your past, it may further damage your psychological condition.” He would often ask like this and she would often say like this.

“You are talking absurd. I cannot believe what you are saying.” There was an accusing expression on his face.

“Oh, Will” there was only one way to pacify him then. She kissed straight on his lips again and said “Cannot you trust your own beloved wife?”

Her idea worked and he reciprocated with her even more vigorously.
