Proper Job Search Technique

Who doesn’t log into Job sites? Everyone does. It is one of the pastimes of employees. Everyone uploads their profile to job sites and clicks the send button to their potential employers. Job sites are a great tool for job search and it is a tool that many of the applicants use nowadays. Has anyone ever considered the drawbacks of their actions? This very practice can be observed by everybody as it lets literally everybody keep tabs on an individual. The Intelligence community or any local organization can see a profile with whatever interest they intend without being noticed. Also, the requirements are so specific and detailed that it is literally impossible to match with the terms for a regular employee due to either lack of experience as mentioned in the specification (as organizational regular promotions are at a higher speed than mentioned in job sites) or lack of association with their specific buyers. In most cases, the result is that 1 out of 1000 or less gets recruited by this process or none is ever called. The application leaves a mark in the system as a job seeker or job hopper as no one really deletes their profile after being recruited by an organization instead they simply update it. This in broader terms refers to the fact that he is always willing to switch and that is the very reason the employers prefer referrals instead of applicants from job sites. Also, selecting a candidate from so many applicants is in itself a time-consuming process and the company has no leverage on him to track down if he leaves unnoticed. But, on the other hand, the job applicant remains vulnerable to the process. However, the most important thing that job sites offer is a huge number of advertisements and as applicants need to go thoroughly about the job specifications, the ads never go unnoticed. So, instead of applying for jobs through job sites, it is best to apply directly through referrals or create referrals and if possible personally meet all the prospected employers to whom the applications were sent to create a two-way communication. In this process, the candidate and the employer can get the desired outcome with less vulnerability. From my little experience of being in China as a part of our Bangladeshi delegation team, I was fortunate enough to know the Chinese University students. Though the students had to pass all the exams to get into their respective Universities but when it came to the question of job placements, they were instructed to find “Guanxi”. “Guanxi” means friends and as they say it the process means they have to go to their relatives in search of jobs. In the case of carrier guides who have worked in Microsoft or Google, they also prefer making connections to get recruited for any well-known company in the US. Their method is a bit different as they prefer the term connections which one can get through Linkedin and they instruct everyone to connect with employees from renowned organizations to get a good job.
