One thing that shows how women's physical look is prioritised over men's is that they should always look beautiful and keep all things that make them more attractive, it's their hair. Have you noticed how after the death of any member of the family all males are required to get their head shaved while women are not asked to do it. I remember once someone from my extended family who doesn't cook food in the same kitchen had died, I told repeatedly that I don't want my head to be shaved but they forced me to do it. Once I asked my mother about a haircut or head shaving(don't remember exactly) she scolded me. It's also why widows had to get their heads shaved apart from living a miserable life before social reformers legalized widow remarriage and reformed so that they can live a normal life, but still their condition in most part(backward parts of the country is not that good but it's not that miserable either).
I'm here to tell you some problems that long hair can cause:
1. It takes more time to maintain it, be it washing once or twice a week and massaging it, etc.
2. If open(most women keep mostly open hair in most cases) then can be struck at a metro gate or any such place and can harm the person.
3. It almost forces women to buy products that greedy capitalist creates for them because it has to earn, which means you become part of the exploited category.
4. And it's neither comfortable nor modern thing(rationality concept), I experimented on myself and noticed it.
So why do they keep it, the simple thing is to look beautiful and you don't have any use for yourself only the other person who wants you will use your beauty.
This thing needs to be broken so that anybody can get comfortable, it's not a very radical change but it's a change that our society needs to adopt if we surely call ourselves modern because modernity has its foundation based on the concept of rationality apart from other values and if you are not rational then stop calling yourself modern.
Many use this "choice" thing whenever you ask them, but they fail to understand how's it their choice when a particular gender is normally having it and if they ever analyzed that is it really their choice or their choice is being shaped by the media.
Women are usually not allowed to visit cremation grounds when their family member dies, and one thing that I have noticed here is that when men go then it's mandatory to get their head shaved and the logic given behind it is you are carrying the dead body so bacteria, etc may have developed over the dead body so head should be shaved to make all the microorganism away from you, here if women visit the cremation grounds then they will have to get their head shaved and if they do this then they won't look beautiful so it's a contradiction. But yes women should go to cremation grounds whether or not get their heads shaved leave upon them, but it's also necessary that feminists normalize it so that no longer women are stereotyped as having long hair and use sort of cosmetics on a thing which don't have it's any real use apart from eating your precious time and creating problems as well.
