Note- You have already read that Kamal had a crush on Kavya from school days. They were working together in the same company for sometime but Kamal was unaware of her marriage . After knowing that she was already married he left the company . But fortune brings their meeting in Shimla where Kavya asks him to move on . Now read further ….
“ Yes , I have moved on . I joined an IT firm at Mohali . “
“ Nice to hear . And how about your marriage ? “
“ I am already married . “
“ Sounds great . Who is that lucky girl , can I know ? “
Sure , I have no secrets to hide from you . You may remember our last school party where you and Tanya spilled some drinks on the floor and we slipped and you nearly fell on the floor .I found Tanya was already working here. After a couple of months of friendship I proposed to her and she happily accepted . We got married and she is expecting . “
I was too happy to hear this and as a reflex reaction I hugged him again “ Congrats for your marriage and would be dad . She has also come to Shimla but she is with her office friends . I am so happy Kamal , you have moved on . Tanya is a very good girl , a fit match for you . All these days I was carrying a guilt complex in my mind though I never did anything wrong . Thank God . At last you came out of your obsession . Now I have got peace of mind. “
After a brief silence from both sides I said “ I have to go .My mother in law and my baby are waiting for me in the hotel. But please do me a favor . Don’t say no , please else I will feel hurt from the core of my heart . ”
“ Okay , tell me what do you want from me ? “
“ You have to come to my hotel in the evening with Tanya . We will have dinner together . Does Tanya know about your crush on me ?” I pulled my hotel’s card from my bag and gave it to Kamal .
“ I didn’t say but women have a very smart inner sense in these matters . She knows I was in your company and might have assumed something but I don’t know.neither did she tell any such thing . “
“ Well nice meeting today . Will wait for you and Tanya this evening . Also try to come early so that we have enough time to gossip about our nostalgia . “ I waved and proceeded towards my hotel
I had ordered a special dinner for ourselves and Kamal and Tanya to be served in my suit . As I knew Tanya’s tastes, it was not difficult to decide the menu . I was waiting for them in the evening . I had already given instructions to the front desk officer at the reception to send them directly to my room. Sharp at 6pm Kamal and Tanya knocked at my door. I opened the door and saw Tanya ahead of Kamal. I hugged her tightly and said “ What good luck to meet my classmate once again . “
“ You are going to crush my baby . “ Tanya said, smiling and touching her visible baby bump “ .
“ Oh, so sorry . But you are looking gorgeous especially with your baby bump . “ I said and remembered how Kamal once said to me ‘ Women look prettier when pregnant .
“ But you are far more beautiful than when I saw you last .”
I introduced my guests to my mother in law . They had brought gifts for my baby . Tanya loved my baby and offered her toys . She said “ What’s your baby’s name ? “
“ She is Aashalata . But some of us call her Aasha and some Lata
“ She is so cute . What should we call her ? “ Kamal said
“ I will call her Aasha - hope ? “ Tanya interrupted
My mother in law went into the bedroom with Aasha . The four of us sat in the drawing room . We were rewinding our past memories with fresh Samosas and coffee . I asked Tanya “ Did you know that Kamal was coming to join your company ? “
“ No , Kamal’s arrival in our company was a pleasant surprise. In fact I felt relieved to see him as there was no one from my state in the company . I had a few guys as friends but just for hi , hello and official get togethers . “
“ When are you expecting ? “
“ Still four months to go . “
“ Take care . Then turning to Kamal I said “ You are also supposed to take special care of Tanya . “
We kept chit chatting for nearly one and half hours until our flow was disturbed by a knock at the door by room service. He had bought our dinner . My mother in law also joined us at dinner .
By the time we finished our dinner it was 8.30 pm . After a short gossip session of about half an hour Kamal said “ Now we should leave , it’s getting late .”
“ It would be good for me if you stayed here at night . I have two rooms and enough beds . “
“ Yes, it’s there I have seen . But Tanya’s medications are in our hotel . She needs some rest also . Even if she had her medicines with her , we all would be talking and enjoying and Tanya can’t get proper rest . “
“ That way it’s right . So I should not insist any more .”
Kamal and Tanya got up to leave . I embraced Tanya and said “ When are you leaving for Mohali ? “
“ Tomorrow afternoon . “ replied Kamal
“ When can we meet again ? “ I asked them
“ We can meet whenever we desire . But for the next few months till delivery it won’t be good for Tanya to move , especially in hilly areas . “
“ Yes , that’s true . I do agree. “
“ When are you leaving for Mumbai Kavya ? “
“ We will be here for a week more . Mummy wants to have darshan of some Shakti Peeths around Shimla . “
“ Well on the way back please drop by our home at Mohali . Mohali is just 10 minutes drive from Chandigarh . We will be too glad to see you all . “ Tanya said .
Then Tanya said to Mummy “ Aunty Namaste , please do bless us during your return journey . “
After a week we had our flight from Chandigarh . I left Shimla early in the morning with an intention to spend a few hours with Tanya . At 11 am we were at Tanya’s house. It was Sunday , so both Kamal and Tanya were at home . Both were extremely delighted to see us . They welcomed us wholeheartedly .
After we had some snacks and coffee , Tanya asked “ When is your flight to Mumbai ? “
“ This evening . “
‘ We will be glad if you stay with us for a couple of days . “ said Tanya
“ No way , I won’t let you all go . You postpone your flight . “ Kamal also agreed with Tanya’s view I don’t know when we will have another golden opportunity to meet together . Let us enjoy some time here . “
“ I will have to ask Deep to reschedule our bookings . “ I said
“ Don’t worry about that . I will get everything done . You just give me your tickets and inform Deep also ,if it’s okay for him . “ Kamal said
“ I know Deep won’t have any problem . I will send a text to him and my manager also . You can take my credit card to pay any difference . And I can defer for a day or utmost two. “
“ Do you consider me so mean that I can’t do this much for you people and need your card . But relax weekend tickets are costlier so your reschedule may not cost anything . “
I stayed with Tanya till Tuesday evening. It was my first visit to Chandigarh . I enjoyed the well planned city of Chandigarh . We visited local sightseeing places and Kalkaji temple especially for Mummy .
When we were leaving Tanya hugged me and said “ Try to meet again sooner . “
“ Kavya , you all have to come to Mohali again when we are blessed with our baby. Our baby needs your blessings . I will request Deep exclusively well in advance .” said Kamal
“ I can assure you about myself and Asha to be with you on that auspicious occasion . I am not sure about Deep . “
“ I will see how Deep comes to meet his dear sister in law . After all, I am his Saali .“ said Tanya
We all laughed . After that I left Chandigarh with a happy note and peace of mind that at last Kamal had come out of his obsession on Unrequited Love for me .
After a few months Tanya gave birth to a baby boy . I got a call from Tanya , she said “ Hi Kavya , we have been blessed with a son and you are blessed with a nephew . We are hosting a party on the eve of his Janmotsav . You all are invited to grace this auspicious occasion and bless the baby . The party is scheduled for next Sunday . Kamal has already talked to Deep . The event is on the weekend so there should be no excuse from Deep also . Again I am repeating that all of you have to come to Mohali . “
We all , myself , Deep , my mother in law and Asha went to Mohali . Tanya and Kamal had thrown a big party . They were very pleased to see us and they welcomed us wholeheartedly. We had brought a lot of gifts for the baby .When I asked Tanya “ What’s the name of your baby ? “
“ Kavyan , our baby’s name is Kavyan . Kamal replied within a fraction of a second
Tanya said “ We have just added a letter ‘ n’ to your name . “
“ Good , who suggested this name ? “ I asked
“ It is Kamal’s choice but I like it too . This way we will always keep you Kavya in our memory . .Isn't it ? “
“ Sure “ I said halfheartedly in a feeble voice and frowning at Kamal . Kamal smiled and turned away his face.
Next day I left Mohali with a confused mind . I had been thinking that Kamal had come out of his obsession on Unrequited Love for me . But I was still there in his mind and thoughts otherwise he would not have named his son Kavyan .
