How successful people grow

Friends, here are the 10 important lessons from the book "How Successful People Grow" by Jim Collins.
Successful people grow by trying and failing often – without losing too much motivation or self belief. They know that this is the process – the only way out is through. Shortcuts, quick fixes and overnight successes sound great – but the reality is great things take time.
Lessons:
1). Find your core ideology. What are your core values and beliefs? What are you passionate about? What are you good at? Once you know your core ideology, you can start to build your life and career around it.

Defining core ideology leads to establishing the envisioned future, which will eventually lead into developing core competencies and core capabilities. Core values are a set of guiding principles that should establish the tenets of an organization.

2). Set ambitious goals.
Don't set goals that are too easy to achieve. Set goals that will challenge you and force you to grow.

Core values are an individual or organization's fundamental beliefs and highest priorities that drive their behavior. You can think of core values as an internal compass of principles that drive a person's or organization's decisions.

The uses of core values:
Core values help create a repeatable, scalable system. They allow people in your organization to make good decisions on their own, by simply applying values to new challenges that come along. Your set of values will remove bottlenecks and empower individual growth across your organization.

3). Be willing to take risks.
If you want to achieve great things, you have to be willing to take risks. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things.
Leaving your comfort zone and taking steps to achieve your goals will have positive effects on your self-efficacy beliefs or confidence. This concept was initially introduced by Albert Bandura, a psychologist who developed Social Learning Theory, which explains the regulation of motivation and human action.
Stepping outside of your comfort zone can help you build your creativity, focus on your self-confidence, and learn more about yourself. You may also find that stepping outside your comfort zone enables you to grow and reach new goals.

4). Never give up.
There will be setbacks along the way. But if you never give up, you will eventually achieve your goals.

The expression “Never, never give up” means to keep trying and never stop working for your goals.
The main meaning of this quote is that we should never give up, even when things are really tough. It's only if we can keep trying even when things seem impossible that we can achieve something truly amazing. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

Failure is a natural part of the process and how you respond to setbacks will determine your success. Persevering through challenges can build resilience and develop important skills. The mindset of never giving up can increase your chances of achieving success and creating a fulfilling career.

5). Learn from your mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is to learn from your mistakes and not make them again.
No one is immune to making mistakes – we are human, after all! But if we simply apologize and carry on as before, we're in danger of repeating the same errors. When we don't learn from our mistakes, we inflict unnecessary stress on ourselves and on others, and we risk losing people's confidence and trust in us.

We all make mistakes in life, and it's important to understand that it's part of the learning process. That's why it's so important to take the time to reflect on our mistakes and learn from them. But what is it called when you learn from your mistakes? The term for this type of learning is “experiential learning .”

6). Be persistent. Don't give up easily. Keep working hard and never give up on your dreams.
Be persistent meaning
continuing to do something or to try to do something even though it is difficult or other people want you to stop.

7). Be open to feedback. Be willing to listen to feedback from others. This will help you to grow and improve.

Definition and Importance of Openness to Feedback in the Workplace:Openness to feedback refers to an individual's willingness and ability to receive feedback, including constructive criticism and suggestions, and to actively engage with it for self-improvement.

Open for feedback" is correct and usable in written English. You can use this phrase when you are seeking feedback and opinions from others, usually after presenting an idea or concept

8). Be a lifelong learner.
The world is constantly changing, so you need to be constantly learning. Read books, attend conferences, and take courses to stay ahead of the curve.

Lifelong learning is broadly defined as the ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. It is important for an individual's competitiveness and employability, but also enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development.”

A lifelong learner is a person who continues to learn new skills and competencies long after they have completed their formal education. It entails not only learning different subjects but also developing an open mind and positive mindset toward the world's dynamism.

Why be a life long learner?
Lifelong learning can also enhance self-esteem while giving you a sense of purpose and hope and feelings of competency. So just the simple and hopefully joyful act of enrolling in a class could help your brain function, mental health, as well as grow your self-esteem.

9). Build a strong network. Surround yourself with positive people who will support you and help you achieve your goals.

Networking is an important component of developing a successful career. It allows individuals to connect with other professionals to learn about industry trends and job opportunities. Exploring practices for building a network can help you form impactful relationships that can help you meet your career goals.

To build a professional network, start by setting networking goals. Then start putting yourself out there. Reach out to current connections, join local and national networking or industry-related organizations, attend events, and connect with others on social media.

10). Give back.
Find a way to give back to your community or to a cause that you care about. This will make you feel good and it will also make a difference in the world.

Give back meaning to provide help or financial assistance to others in appreciation of one's own success or good fortune. Gardner has refined the art of giving back by plowing 10 percent or more of his earnings into school and educational projects.

These are just a few of the many lessons that can be learned from the book "How Successful People Grow". If you read this book, I am sure you will find many other lessons that resonate with you.

Are there tried and true principles that are always certain to help a person grow? John Maxwell says the answer is yes. He has been passionate about personal development for over fifty years, and here, he teaches everything he has gleaned about.

"How Successful People Grow" is a compact little book of just over 140 pages. There are 15 chapters, and each one focuses on one short and powerful lesson for experiencing growth in all areas of your life. The first of these lessons is to become an intentional learner.
Until thought is linked with purpose there is no intelligent accomplishment. Instead of trying to be great, be part of something greater than yourself. Your life today is a result of your thinking yesterday. Your life tomorrow will be determined by what you think today.

I hope this helps you!
