Chapter-6

Let’s Play

Joey executes his plan and everyone participates happily as if they are on roller coaster ride. I sit in my living room like an observer and audience. Joey put rough clothes on his head. Hannah and Grace also open their hair and cover themselves with sheets and Marlin and Aaron go to set some music. They all four jumps to the balcony of Mr Davis with help of my side wall. Aaron and Marlin play music and Hannah and Grace make different sounds and loudly speak. ‘I am coming darling Davis to take you’. Mr Davis hears the sound of music and weird stuff and gets frightened and feels that seriously his nightmare has come true. His wife has come with other soul as he sees through his window.

Who are you? He asks from inside and then they all speak together that we are coming to take you as your beloved wife Saylor is calling you. Music plays in background.  I see this whole drama ask them to come back without making noise. But they begin to dance, swirling their hair and sheets which they took with them. Mr. Davis was literally afraid and locked his door tight.  I see the awkward makeup Grace and Hannah put on their faces. Mr Davis starts shouting and shouts, ‘I will call the police’. The moment he said police, all of them jump back to my balcony. I lock the door and switch off the lights and cover the windows with curtains. They all laugh loud. I ask them to laugh slowly because Mr. Davis is in his balcony to check who was there. I check the clock it was around 4am. It was really super fun, just look at his face he thought us to be demons who have come to take him with them. Hannah, Joey, Grace, Marlin and Aaron still laughing,

Girls wash your face and take a nap if you want to. I tell them straight and at once they read my expressions and straight away moved to bed.

Next morning, I prepare breakfast for my super cool friends after all they all were tired of last night fun. Grace also helps me. After few minutes we all sit for breakfast and we eat eggs, toast, salad and corn with fruits. This is the best weekend we ever had Joey says while eating his toast. We agree Aaron and Marlin say in same way.  Hope Mr Davis is calm and feeling better and forget it like a bad dream. I take sip of coffee. Nora, cool! It was just a show! and Mr. Davis doesn’t have much energy in his bones to tackle us. Joey answers me. He is right he can’t even imagine that what we did to him. Marlin also says in same way as Joey did. I have to tell you one thing that I will go for dinner with my boss Mr Ethan. Is it a date? Hannah swallows’ egg. No, honey it is just a business dinner. I will join your guys after dinner is over. I don’t think so you can make it, Hannah looks unhappy about it. I will. Let’s see! She drinks coffee. They all leave my house by 10 am and everyone looks so refreshing and happy and I too. Even I feel that the play with Davis was not so bad.

In the evening I wear black skirt and cream top and open my hair straight. I put some makeup and lip gloss on the lips with black heels. I see myself in mirror and smile because my aunt Darby always say that I look like my mother. She was the most beautiful woman. I miss my mother and father too. I locked the door. Check the cell phone, no messages, in fact our group was also silent. They must be getting ready to meet Hannah’s fiancée. I will quickly have dinner and will join them. I see my neighbours’ doors closed and in peace. I press the lift button and reach ground floor to take the taxi. In thirty minutes, reach café ‘Pollen’ and its ambience is too good. Some band is playing. I see Mr. Ethan already reserved table for us.  Hello, Nora you look stunning.  Thanks, Ethan orders food. So, Nora don’t take me wrong I really wanted to have a dinner with you from long time. But I observe that you are so different, so simple, pure and hardworking lady, I mean like beauty with brains. Oh! Mr. Ethan you are exaggerating! I am not that much good as you know. I take it just as a business dinner with my boss. I clarify him so that he doesn’t create any sort of picture in his mind.

Of Course, Nora, I know you are a busy person and you are not single too. Listening this I remember Byron and last night stuff. Our food comes chicken chop suey, beef, curry with rice and some boiled vegetables and wine. The food looks awesome. I hope you like the food he tries to read my face.  While eating he told me about his business plans and how he is thinking of opening more departmental stores in near future. I listen carefully and he feels good seeing me like this. I finished my dinner it was 9.30 pm, he asks for a dance. I told him that I have to go to my friends as are waiting for me. He pays the check. Bye! Mr. Ethan it’s a nice place and nice dinner. Thanks Nora! see you in office.

He offers me lift but I refuse as I was not interested. I call Grace, she doesn’t pick my call. My taxi gets stuck in traffic and I posted a message in high school group.

Hi guys, I am coming.

But no reply comes. I call Marlin and he answers, ‘we are about to leave Nora’. Hannah has already gone with her fiancée; he seems to be a nice guy. I am going to sports club. Grace, Joey and Aaron have some business to do. If you want you can join me. I see the watch it strikes 10.30. No issues Marlin, I am going home.

After half an hour I come back to my place. In lift I encounter Mr. Davis and tries to avoid him by pretending to be busy on phone. He too didn’t say nothing. When we reach our floor, I hurriedly go to my apartment but he stops me, Nora I want to talk to you. I see his face, he looks serious. What? Mr. Davis. I Know last night your friends were trying to frightened me and it’s too bad. No, Mr. Davis you are mistaken, no I am not, I am near sixty and you cannot fool me, understand. Mr Davis, we are kids, hope you don’t mind. I apologise on their behalf. Saying Sorry is easy but you know your friends deserve punishment.
