A Plan
Why did you hit him? I ask Joey. I say while bandaging his face. I hit him because of you and you are scolding me only he replies in high pitch. I am not scolding you and remember what he had said that he will take a revenge. Don’t worry Nora, that bastard, do you think can do something? He is bamboo Hannah says while drinking water. How could you tolerate that idiot to such an extent he is a psychopath, didn’t you see how shamefully he was telling that he never loved you. That means he was just using you as past time Grace also adds. Oh my gosh! my nerves broke out. Please guys, let him go now. I feel it like an insult and goes to bathroom and break down in tears. I am sure she is crying but let her cry she needs this Grace says to everyone.
After few hours everything becomes normal as nothing happened. We all watch the movie on big screen with delicious dinner like chicken chops, Prawns, Boiled rice with curry and mocktails. We all laugh and tease each other with our poor jokes like always. Joey, why he learned guitar, just to impress his teacher in high school who he thought to be classy and sexy. We tease Aaron in school that how he became clown by losing his bet with Marlin. Marlin too had a painful past his first love in high school died in an accident. Sometimes he gets so emotional that he goes away without telling anyone. He deals with this pain in his own way. Grace keeps switching from one boy to another. She thinks we need to test the product before use. Hannah needs attention as she has some ego issues with her parents, they separated but live in same house and nobody cares about her. So, she decided to live in a hotel. Then her mother called her back by begging in front of her. Gloria is sweet, pure and simple girl. She believes in love and she married her first boyfriend Shane. She is caring, possessive about us, her family and husband. I miss her. I remember her while putting utensils in dishwasher.
The moment I come out from the kitchen saw all of them sleeping while the screen was still on. I ask Grace and Hannah to share my bedroom. While Joey, Aaron and Marlin sleep on couch and carpet and snoring, so decided not to disturb them. Hannah and Grace lay down on my bed and I put an extra bedding beside them. It was a long day and take a deep breath. I must tell Hannah about my plan for tomorrow otherwise she will be pissed off. I will tell her early morning I decided and switch off the light and, in few moments, I dozed off.
It was around 2 pm in clock when I hear the sound of Mr Davis, Oh gosh! It’s Saturday! He is having nightmares. I can’t hear him clearly in my bedroom but he was audible in my living room. Oh no! these three are sleeping or not I must check. I get up and move to living room and found Joey and Marlin close to wall so that they can hear him clearly. “Skylar come back, please….” Mr Davis shouting. ‘I am sorry darling please forgive me’. Marlin pushes Aaron to wake him up. I sit on couch and stare them quietly. After few minutes, Grace and Hannah also joins them.
Guys, I have an idea Joey says in excitement. What? Hannah excited too, what’s the plan? Joey tells everyone about his plan but I don’t approve it. Guys, this is not right. We have no right to interfere in someone’s personal issues. And don’t forget he had a strange past. I again inform them. Why are you so afraid? Nora, it is just for fun, he will never come to know that we people were involved in this, trust me. Joey gives assurance. Come on Nora! We should try at least just for fun and it’s one life to enjoy. Grace it’s not about hanging around with some guy and test his loyalty in funny way as you do. It’s is about his dead wife.
Everyone has secrets maybe he is pretending to be a victim but he is a real killer. Police released him long time ago they thought it was a mistake to suspect him and now he is a lonely and helpless person who is struggling with nightmares. I again argue with Hannah. Nora, don’t forget even you too have a secret which is safe with us and we all pretend as we don’t know. Hannah starts speaking. I in shock asks her, why are taking the matter in other way? Mr. Davis and my situation both are different. I say in anger. You are also a murderer; Grace laughs and I feel bad. Hang on guys, please it is just an adventure for Saturday night. Don’t be weird. If Nora is not agreeing, then it’s okay because she lives here and we are going to go back to our place. So, we must understand Marlin speaks in calmer tone. I see others they were not happy because they wanted to play and I interrupt in between.
I drink one glass of water and say to them. You all are my best friends’ do as you wish. I don’t want to spoil your mood. But be sure that you will not leave any traces of your stupid game and I am saying this because I don’t want you people to put yourself in any kind of trouble. Oh Nora! we love you! Grace hugs me. You called me murderer. Oh, Nora babe it was just slip of tongue, she kisses on my cheeks and I smile. Even Joey, Aaron also smiles and I know Nora you care for us and we too. Hannah passes me flying kiss. I catch her kiss and smile back but deep inside I was deeply hurt by Hannah’s words. But it’s okay, we are friends not angels.
