Amy still remembered the feeling of the blood that dripped down her fingers. Neither did she felt a bit of remorse for her deeds nor she really did care what would happen further. All she remembered was Mr. Hans blood dripping down slowly through her fingers with each step she took. She was done tolerating to the extent of being broken.
Jay: Amy?
Amy soon snapped back to reality looking at Jay. She looked at Jay who was looking back at her with curious yet worried eyes.
She hummed.
Jay: why do you hate your parents?
Amy looked at Jay with a blank face.
Amy: you should sleep doctor.
Jay hesitated but yet nodded.
Jay: you too.
They both layed down the bed as there was nothing but silence. Jay faced the ceiling while Amy layed on her stomach as her wounds on the back were yet painful. They could hear each other calm breaths moving in a sync. None of them dared to look at each other but rather closed their eyes pretending to be asleep.
Amy couldn't sleep as her memories haunted her and her wounds felt like forest fire. While Jay still had many questions yet unsolved as his mind was still processing the new information.
Soon the room was filled with the cold wind making the atmosphere chill. Jay soon took over the quilt , gently placing it over Amy and himself. He looked at Amy who was asleep but still awake. He moved closer to her leaving an inch distance between them. He stared at Amy , studying her facial features. He noticed small scratches and bruises on her face making his heart clench.
His eyes traced her from her forehead to her bruised lips. Her messy hairs and some of her locks lying across her face. He gently pushed her hair behind her ear. He unknowingly caressed his thumb on her lips but she didn't reacted. He immediately backed away realising what he did and closed his eyes to avoid any suspicions. After a while he peeked at Amy who was asleep like before.
His blue orbs never left Amy's face. His heart having a sudden urge of embracing Amy in his arms like before. In his eyes she looked like a fragile doll that could break any moment. He wanted to protect her. He still remembered how close he was on losing her and getting killed by some selfish, competitive rivalry. He gently snaked his arm under the quilt across her bare waist.
Pulling her closer to him as her head came in contact with his chest. He slowly caressed her waist with one hand as the other caressed her hairs and being totally unknown about the fact of Amy being awake. Amy's breath hitched but later she felt comforted in his arms. His breath faning against her forehead. His skin radiating warmth against hers. She felt this unknown feeling that craved for his warmth.
She neither moved away nor protested against his touch. It would be a lie if she didn't feel butterflies in her stomach at his touch. His little gentle gestures made her heart go crazy. She couldn't lie that she didn't love the feeling of being important in his life when he clinged onto her as if his life depended on her. She rather felt relieved and protected under his touch. A feeling that made her forget all her worries. She even forgot the pain of her fresh wounds.
She was still unknown about the feelings stirring inside her like a storm. Her tough self and stubborn mind had way more control over than the feelings of her heart.
She couldn't let her emotions control her decisions and predictions. She was a cunning woman with cleverer plans and would go to any extent to accomplish her goals, no matter what were ones feelings or definitions in their minds towards her.
She remembered the past days that she spended with Jay and his family. She never opened up to anybody neither anybody ever cared about her except her brother who was sent far away from her. She didn't remembered the last time she ever felt so happy or even smiled. She had unknowingly started caring for her now family. She felt loved by Jay's mom and dad. She wanted this feeling of happiness to last forever. But she knew that destiny and luck were never on her side. Her life hadn't been always gloomy. There were moments of happiness which were snatched away from her in an blink of an eye.
And now she feared if she would loose her new family again. She had mentally prepared her self to get them safe no matter what the cost. Between her running chain of thoughts, she snuggled more into Jay's chest leaving tingling sensations on his chest. Jay smiled looking down at her as the dawn went by with the cooling winds .
