Unlocking The Secrets of Life - 6

Peasant OR Queen

A queen ordered her men to place a boulder in the centre of the major route leading into and out of town in ancient times.

The queen then crept into hiding, waiting for someone to come to their senses and move it out of the way.

The boulder was passed by wealthy merchants and courtiers without a second glance. A couple of them held their queen responsible for the state of the roads. However, no one intervened.

A peasant strolled down the street with a sack of vegetables to sell at the market one day.

He came to a complete halt, placed these on the ground, and then pushed, yanked, puffed, and heaved the stone away.

The peasant discovered a big purse full of riches and a handwritten note from the queen herself where the boulder had been when he went to pick up his veggies.

The gold was a prize for anyone could get it off the road.

The moral of the tale is that being lazy will not get you anywhere in life. Success nearly always necessitates humility and dedication.

Work or LIFE

Father was a hardworking man who delivered bread to support his wife and three children. He spent every evening after work going to classes in the hopes of bettering himself and eventually obtaining a better paying career. Except on Sundays, Father seldom shared a meal with his family. He worked very hard and studied a lot because he wanted to provide his family the best that money could buy.

He excused his behaviour by stating that he was doing everything for them when his family complained that he didn't spend enough time with them. However, he wished to spend more time with his family.

The day had finally arrived for the examination results to be released. Father passed with honours, much to his delight! He was quickly offered a nice position as a senior supervisor, which paid well.

Father could now afford to offer his family with life's minor indulgences, such as excellent clothing, great food, and international vacations, as if it were a dream come true.

Despite this, the family did not see their father for the majority of the week. He continued to put in long hours in the hopes of being promoted to manager. In reality, he enrolled in another course at the open university to make himself a worthy contender for the promotion.

When his family grumbled that he didn't spend enough time with them, he rationalised that he was doing everything for them. He desired to spend more time with his family, though.

Father received a promotion as a result of his efforts. He was ecstatic and decided to hire a maid to relieve his wife of her domestic responsibilities. He also considered that their three-room flat was no longer enough, and that his family would benefit from the facilities and conveniences that a condominium would provide. Father determined to continue his studies and work hard to get promoted again, as he had previously received the fruits of his efforts. Even yet, his family didn't get to visit him too often. In actuality, Father was occasionally compelled to entertain guests on Sundays. He excused his behaviour by stating that he was doing everything for them when his family complained that he didn't spend enough time with them. However, he wished to spend more time with his family.

Father's hard work paid off once more, as he purchased a lovely apartment overlooking Singapore's shore. Father informed his family on the first Sunday evening in their new house that he had decided not to take any more courses or pursue any more promotions. He promised himself that he would spend more time with his family from then on.

Father did not wake up the next day.

It is critical to get knowledge and money. However, spending time with family is crucial.
