Beautiful Poems

1. Changing Horizons

Though I love stability, my life is not at the harbour,
You can't tie me down with an anchor.
I may be a son, a husband or a father,
But at heart, I'm a marine, a sailor.

I can hear the calling of the ocean waves,
I'll have to leave my family, I'll have to be brave.
It's time to set the sails and meet my shipmates,
'coz foreign lands are now my fate.

With tears in my eyes, I withdraw from her nestle,
Bidding farewell to all, I embark my vessel.
We exchanged promises of keeping in touch,
Letters and calls, and messages just as much.

The darting aquatic birds welcome me,
My chirping friends through the sea.
Clouds above guide me to my destination,
Taking me to distant horizons.

As the magnificent crimson sunset touches the skyline,
Casting its golden hue, making the waters shine.
The beautiful colours make me forget my miseries,
Whilst I'm softly kissed by the cooling moist breeze.

It has its own rhythmic pulse, the dreamy sea,
Kindling a calm and soothing symphony.
The waves crawl around us, drenching the seabed below,
There's no hurry, the voyage is gonna be long and slow.

At night the ocean gives me a creepy feeling,
But now the sea is my home, the sky my ceiling.
A sight for sore eyes is the moonlit vista,
Echoing sailor songs at the deck, is our mini fiesta.

As days, weeks and months pass in the waters,
I miss my sons, I miss my daughters.
Only duty keeps me away from my family,
Rest assured, foreign lands will never satisfy me.

Wherever I go, wherever my feet may roam,
Taking a U-turn, for sure I'm coming back home.
My true life is with my near and dear ones,
Not at the sea, not with the changing horizons.

2. The Miracle of Life

In spite of knowing it all,
My insides twisted in a ball.
Heart & soul were filled with panic,
For the unbearable pain was volcanic.

After hours of struggle it was finally done,
The miracle in my arms... was my son.
A perfect blend of my spouse and me,
He was our joyful pride, for all to see.

His first cry was sweet & music to our ears,
It brought immense pleasure, & ebbed away all our fears.
He was round & fair, & so very adorable
The cutest baby in the world, if that's even possible.

We kept gazing at him, as it was hard to believe,
A beautiful gift from the lord we'd just received.
It's truly amazing that I've given birth,
To a dear child, from heaven on earth.

Blue eyes, curly hair & a tiny bop nose,
Chubby cheeks, rosy lips and perfect little toes.
The kissable dimples on his face,
Are bang on right in place!

He's our life, he's too precious to us,
He lights our home, like no one does.
The walls resonate with his coos and cries,
His smile swells my heart to a bigger size.

We're so proud of you my boy,
You'll forever be, our delightful joy.
Life has become complete since you arrived,
We promise to give you the best, so you never feel deprived.

3. Mother Earth

When first the good lord created me,
I was a sight for sore eyes you see.
Clear blue sky and greenery all around,
Chirping birds was the only sound.

My waters were clean and crystal clear,
All lived in peace without any fear.
My paths were litter free,
Surrounded by lush green trees.

I was so proud of my mountains,
And all my regular seasons.
Nothing interfered with my beauty,
Until gradually man forgot his duty.

His desire for wants are not just his needs,
His demand for luxuries is now his greed.
In his mad rush of fulfillment,
He has destroyed the environment.

Now my skies are forever covered in smoke,
Man is breathing impurities, only to choke.
Honking vehicles is all that can be heard,
Where are my cute little chirping birds?

My fishes have become breathless,
Water debris is killing them senseless.
There's scarcely any flora and fauna left,
Man has robbed me & I convict him of this theft.

All my cycles and seasons have gone haywire,
I'm fed-up of satisfying man's never ending desires.
Oh lord! When will his thirst quench?
When will he relieve me of his twisted wrench?

Man O man! listen to me carefully,
I'm pleading with you humbly,
Mend your ways or only you will suffer,
Global warming is about to become rougher.

Your babies will be born with diseases,
Understand before all my help seizes.
Mother Earth may come to an end before you,
I've given you immense…
Now it's your turn to pay the due.
