DIY PROJECTS FOR KIDS

Corona virus has stopped the world and everybody has retreated into their safe haven that is their home. Parents are forced to work from home and kids are not allowed to go to school. The quarantine has locked kids in their own homes and has turned them into prisoners of their own homes. This also means the kids are not studying and they have a lot of free time at their hands. Everybody knows free kids means chaos and a lot of screaming.

The best way to keep kids engaged and not to blow a hole in your house is to keep them busy in activities that will take up their concentration. These activities will help them to learn important life lessons as well. These projects are easy to do, with materials available easily at homes and can be done by anyone. You just need to find a project that your kids find interesting and your afternoon will be sorted. Additionally it will help you to keep your kids away from mobiles and televisions, thereby cutting down on screen time adequately.

Here we list some of the projects that can be done by kids easily at home:

Thumb printing

It is one of the easiest projects that need the minimal preparation. All you need is some drawing sheets, kid-friendly colours and a colour palette and you are sorted. Dip your thumbs into any colour of your choice and press on the paper. You can make several different things from such paintings. For example you can make flowers or even family tree with thumb prints.

Creative collages

Gather some craft sheets, old picture books or magazines or anything that your kids love to work with, kid-friendly craft glue and safe scissors. You can also use crayons or water colours as per your kids liking. If you are working with colours, first colour the entire sheet with the colouring supplies. Next step is to decide upon the collage pictures. If your kids are too young to operate the scissors, you can pre cut them during preparations. Select the pictures your kids want in the collage. You can use any picture book or magazines as per your liking. Then start gluing. It is a free form art and your kids can do glue the pictures as per their liking. Kids above the age of three years can easily do this project.

Origami Arts

Origami is one of the easiest and popular projects popular with kids in the primary schools. You can either make dogs, Pikachu, rabbits, frogs, robots, birds, dog face, tulips or a bunch of other things. All you need is origami craft paper or simple square sheets cut from plain or coloured papers and you are good to go. The kids will easily be able to follow along the tutorials and make their favourite characters. It will keep them engaged for hours and what better than making their own favourite characters.

These activities will keep the kids busy and also boost their skills.
