India is undoubtedly the land of temples. India being extremely rich in its Vedic culture has inherited some of the most mysterious temples that have a lot of astonishing stories in their background. Right from their origin to the stories related the deity; there are so many stories of temples that will compel you to think about the existence of the foremost supreme God and their existence. Today we will be discussing some of these stories that are prevalent since the time immemorial.
Nidhivan Temple, Vrindavan: Where Krishna performs Raasleela
The Nidhivan temple is located in midst of a forest. This unique forest has similar heighted trees whose branches are all intertwined. The trees called Vana Tulsi grow in pairs, have hollow roots and bear no nests or insects on them. It is said that Lord Shri Krishna comes to the temple after sunset and performs Rasleela with Raadha and Gopis. It is believed that the trees are Gopis in disguise. The temple closes after the Evening Arti and even monkeys who are abundant in the forest leave the forest after the arti is performed. Anyone who sees them will be unable as they will turn insane or dumb forever.
Another strange happening in the temple is the Rang Mahal or the Temple where the priest keeps new toiletries before closing the temple every evening only to find them scattered around as if somebody has used them the next morning. Some people also report hearing music from the temple at night.
Jagannath Temple, Puri: The residence of Lord Krishna’s heart
It is believed that King Indradyumn found a iron lump which had rhythmic pulses like that of a heart while bathing in a river. It was at this moment Lord Vishnu came to him and whispered in his ears that it is Lord Krishna’s heart and it will remain on the Earth forever. Hearing this, the King installed the ‘Brahma Padartha’ into the idol of Lord Jagganath. Due to the immense power of the ‘Brahma Padartha, the idols which are made up of Neem wood gets degraded in 12-19 years and has to be replaced with new idols. The priests of the temple change the idols and shift the Holy heart after tying a piece of cloth around their eyes as nobody is allowed to see them. It is believed that if anyone sees it by incidence, will attain immediate Moksha.
The temple also has other mysterious happenings including the flag of the temple, Prasad and the entrance of the temple. The flag of the temple always flows in the direction opposite to the wind. The Prasad is cooked in seven wooden pots on wooden fire, by stacking them one upon another. The surprising thing is the foot kept on the topmost pot cooks first and the second pot gets cooked second and likewise. Also the Prasad never get wasted and gets over every day. The mystery of the Singhadwara is also one to think about. You can never hear the sound of the ocean once you enter through the dwara and despite being in close proximity to the ocean.
The Jagganath temple and the Nidhivan temple are only two of the several mysterious temples of India and no scientific findings have been able to explain the strange happenings here.
