TERRIFYING CREATURES OF THE DEEP SEA

You must have seen several Hollywood movies based on deadly sharks and Piranhas. But what if I tell you there are far more terrifying creatures in the deep sea that could give the Piranha and sharks a run for their money. The deep sea is far less explored than the surface of the moon and this suggests that there are many more creatures that can actually scare the living daylight out of a person than just the main stream Hollywood depicts. These creatures live in the deep sea where the sunrays hardly go through and as such they are creatures of the dark. Terrifying thought, isn’t it? In this article, we will talk about some of these creatures.

Lamprey

Lampreys are not fishes, they are more like parasites. And the weirdest part is not their body but their mouth. The mouth of the lampreys is very unique and extremely scary. They have a round mouth and a ring of teeth. They bore into the prey and suck out the blood. They also secrete anticoagulants, so when they move on, the prey is left to die slowly as blood seeps out of its bodies.

Angler fish

Angler fish also goes by the name of sea devil. This fish has a glowing fishing rod in front of its mouth. They can eat prey as large as they are and lurk in the bottom of the sea bed in search of their next meal. They have long pointy fangs to tear into larger prey and the glowing rod attracts unsuspecting prey like moth to a flame.

Blob fish

Blob fishes are extremely ugly and are even considered the ugliest fish in the sea world. And rightly so they have no visible bone structures and they melt into the surface. In fact, nobody not even the scientists know how the fish is supposed to look under its natural habitation since nobody has seen its natural habitat. Maybe under the pressure of water, they resemble normal fishes, but how does that make an interesting story.

Frilled shark

You cannot have a list of terrifying sea creatures and not list even one shark. Frilled sharks find its association to the era of Jurassic. They are silent predators and their grey colour helps them hunt silently. But their most terrifying feature is their teeth. The frilled sharks have approximately 300 barbed teeth that are bent backwards. The fish will tear so brutally into its prey that it has no chance of survival. Also they have extremely white teeth that are very tempting to its prey.

Goblin shark

Goblin sharks are probably the scariest of this lot. They have a hugely disproportionate nose that makes it look closer to the mythological unicorn than to sharks. And their pink skin makes them look like they have no skin at all. But if you get a look at its ballistic bite, you will find nothing ever more terrifying. Its terrifying large jaws gulp in any prey and shut it close without any chance of escape, no matter how big or small the prey is.
