Nishty - 11. Over to Mumbai

After the completion of the party, Nishith and his parents returned home. On their way back home they were still discussing about the party. Nishith could not sleep at night as tomorrow night he was to leave for Mumbai. Nishith got engulfed in his own thoughts-How to settle in Mumbai? What would be the work place be like? How would he begin his day? With these thoughts in mind he never knew when he fell asleep.

Next day in the morning itself, Nishith began packing his bags and after the task was done he left for office so that even if he come back late from work, it would not disturb his schedule. Today there was no work for him in the office. Today the work in the office was going on as usual but today the talk of the town among the colleagues was that of Nishith and yes all were still in the hangover of yesterday’s party and the way Shroff sir played his googly ball through Rajesh with Nishith on the grounds was a surprise for all. Nishith did not have any obligation towards work today yet he was drowned in work with passion. And this continued till 5:30 in the evening. And suddenly everyone arrived with bouquets and greeted Nishith with compliments. Nishith was now in tears. It was now 6:30 with only few staff remaining in the office. Shroff sir called Nishith to his cabin.

Nishith at first sought blessings from Shroff sir and then stood next to him.

“All the best Nishith...I hope that since you have got the job of your dreams, you achieve even greater heights and may you be ever successful. All of us will miss you a lot.”

“thank you sir, especially for yesterday’s fantastic surprise party. My parents have specially asked me to convey their regards to you. Really it was an unbelievable treat which I will cherish all through my life”.

“well if you want to thank, then thank Rajesh. Without his help I would not be able to accomplish this task”.

“yes sir..I came to know about it.”

“OK Nishith! All the best again.”

With tears rolling from his eyes, Nishith bid goodbye to Shroff sir and left his cabin.

Now it was Rajesh’s turn...Rajesh-Nishith’s best friend, Who knew Nishith completely. Nishith hugged him and could not control his tears, but Rajesh was still smiling.

Nishith Punched him and asked,”are you really happy that I am going”?

“Yes I am really happy....shouldn't I be happy for your success?

“no not like that!!!”

“If not like that, then how?”

“Nothing...you leave me alone...”

“Well! How can I leave you... I have even informed aunty that cook dinner for me. We both will have dinner together and then I will come to drop you at the station.”

“Yes that’s great. We’ll take my car and go to station and then from there you bring the car back home.”

“Brother...for this reason I have planed this”.

Nishith loved this gesture of Rajesh. When his cousin Bhushan had left the states, Nishith face much difficulties in managing all the activities and so he was at ease when Rajesh had already planned out everything before hand.

Then bidding farewell to the colleagues still present at the office, both Nishith and Rajesh left for their homes. On reaching home both got freshened up and sat on the sofa placed in the drawing room. After chit chatting for a while, Nishith Checked on to his bags to confirm that nothing was missed. It was still about 2 hours left to leave for the station. Nishith was served with his favourite dish Pav-bhaji for the dinner.

Nishith enjoyed his favourite food. He was not sure when he would eat home cooked food again. Even Rajesh liked the food cooked by Nishith’s Mother. Now after all had eaten, it was now time to reach the station.

It was still 1 hour for the train and the time to reach the station from Nishith’s house was about 20 minutes and so Nishith was not much worried about reaching the station. After arranging the luggage in the car, all occupied their places in the car. Rajesh took the steering wheel in his hands and as they begun they got stuck in a traffic jam.

“ohhhh.... Traffficcc”...Rajesh uttered.
“Won’t we miss the train? Asked Nishith’s mother anxiously.
“there is still plenty of time for the train to depart, there is nothing to worry”, said Nishith Calmly.
“we will see”, said Rajesh.
“10-15 minutes passed by, but the traffic was not seeming to ease. The traffic was now becoming a reason to worry...now it was time to put in place plan B.

Nishith told Rajesh,”as the traffic ceases you return back home taking back Mom with you. I and dad will get down here only and will take a rickshaw from the cross roads ahead”. As he was getting down he saw that the vehicles began moving.

“thank god”, Uttered Nishith as he took his seat again. As the traffic jam ceased, it was as if the vehicles started gearing up for action. The car was now running smoothly. When the car arrived at the station it was still 15 mins for the train to depart and the train would depart from platform no 7 and so Nishith thought that it was meaningless for Mom and Rajesh to come with him further.

“Rajesh due to lack of time it is of no use that you both come inside. We will go from here.”

“OK Nishith as you wish” saying this Rajesh stood next to him. He then helped him to take his lagguage. In the meantime Nishith sought his mother’s blessings as he touched her feet. Rajesh hugged Nishith and tears began rolling down his eyes.

Both the friends now parted and Nishith entered the station with his lagguage. Nishith and his dad now entered the already reserved 3 tier AC coach. Both occupied their respective seats. The train had now departed. The Train had just reached maninagar when a beautiful girl on the opposite seat asked Nishith..
“Excuse me... are you single?”

Hearing these words Nishith was shocked. He was now short of words. He was now wondering how can this be possible that a girl is directly proposing a boy? And that too without any acquaintance.
Since Nishith was taking too long to the reply, the girl spoke.”well if you have any worries...then no problem”.
“We two are together...but tell child what is the matter”? Nishith’s dad jumped in between the conversation.
“Oh so that's the case? Then its nothing uncle.
“NO tell child what's the problem”?

Nishith now felt a bit embarrassed at his thinking about the whole situation. He could not even look at his dad.

“Nothing Uncle...Well actually my dad is travelling with me and is seated in the next compartment. He has a heart ailment and so if you don’t have any objection I would like to exchange our seats”.
“No problem child. My son Nishith will go to the next compartment. Go call your dad and yes take Nishith with you.”

Being in an embarrassing situation Nishith could not face anyone. He could not face neither his dad nor that girl. He thought to himself this is the best way to get rid of the situation.

The seats had been exchanged.. and suddenly Sinha Sir’s message popped up on Nishith’s mobile screen.

“Contact Mob. NO 945XXXXX09 on reaching Borivali”.

Nishith and his dad decided to stay at their Maternal Aunt’s place in Dahisar till a new accommodation was found and had subsequently informed her well in advance. Nishith breathed a sigh of relief on knowing whom to contact on reaching Borivali as there would be no trouble of finding an auto rickshaw in the early mornings.

“Thanks a lot sir” Nishith replied to Sinha sir.

Now it was midnight. Passengers were asleep on their seats. It was now morning as the train entered Borivali station. Nishith came back to his dad’s compartment. His dad was also awake. Nishith told his dad about Sinha Sir’s message. Sinha sir’s driver had already arrived at the station and was waiting for them.

On de-boarding the train with their luggage, Nishith again called the driver. To his surprise the driver greeted them before the call could connect. All arrived in the parking stand...looking with the sight of time, there was a lot of movement with respect to Ahmedabad city.

“Sir, You wait here, I shall get the car” Saying this the driver went to get his car.

“Mr. Single, till the driver arrives with the car we should inform your aunt about our arrival”, Nishith’s dad told him as he took out his mobile to call.

“OK dad”, answered Nishith, looking a bit confused.
But before he could connect the call, the driver arrived with the car.
“OK Sir, come in”

Both occupied their seats in the car keeping their luggage in the boot.

“Brother, take us to Kandivali east. I will give you the exact address en-route.” Gunavantbhai instructed the driver.

“No sir...Didn’t Sinha sir tell you anything.? He told me to take you to Borivali west at the flat.”

“Nishith did you have any chat with Sinha sir on this matter?”

“No dad. I don’t know anything with regards to the flat”

“so just call him to clarify the matter”.

“Ok Dad.. I shall call him right away.” saying this he took out his mobile and as he was about to call Sinha sir, suddenly a message flashed on his screen which was sent from Sinha sir.

“A fully furnished flat is waiting for you. Don’t argue with the driver.” After reading the message he showed the message to his dad. Both told the driver,”Ok let’s go the flat”.

Gunvantbhai spoke to his sister and conveyed the message that they would go to their place in the evening.

The car then arrived in front of a posh apartment in Borivali west. All three entered the lift with the luggage. In the complex consisting of 10 floors the lift arrived at the 5th floor. On looking at the flat Nishith was left speechless. What a beautiful flat it was. It was a 3 BHK flat. As Nishith freshened up, the driver arrived with Idli sambhar as breakfast for all. He also told Nishith that tiffin service was also arranged for him and he would receive home delivery of tiffin everyday. Today we both will leave in some time but tiffin will be delivered for your dad.

After having breakfast Nishith was talking with his dad that he would take him to his office the next day. After travelling the whole night it was best to spend the day in rest. The Next day Nishith was now ready to leave for the office. With a dark black trousers and light formal shirt he was ready for a new beginning. Before leaving he sought his father’s blessings.

“May you be very successful son”, saying this Gunavantbhai blessed his son. A spark of enthusiasm was seen his Nishith’s eyes and a bright smile on his dad’s face.

The car now left for the office but within a few minutes the car came to a halt....
