If one door was closed shut;
God will open the other one;
Five full years....! Without Arun!!! Anitha can't believe, she has been alive all those years. She was sitting in the balcony, in her apartment with a cup of coffee in front of her. It was a fine evening, the weather was humid.
Even today , she feels the same chill and shuddering shock when she think about the 'day', she received the phone call, the journey, afterwards the doctor's declaration of his death'.
The one thing, she terribly wanted to do, after Arun's death was, to commit suicide. But her fate didn't allow her to do so. She is living a life, without 'life'. In this 'lifeless' life, she had been changed a lot, became an introvert, talks occasionally only if needed. She even totally forgot how to laugh.
Since Arun died during work, they offered a job to anitha from Arun's company. According to her qualification, they posted her in a new branch near Ennoor. She shifted to an apartment which is located nearby to her office within half an hour reach.
The new environment and surroundings soothened her drenched heart. Much helpful to come out of her worries. As the job was a totally new one, she found it very difficult to accommodate herself initially. But she learned about it step by step. She joined computer courses and spent most of her time on work. Because of her hard work and sincerity, she got promoted at her office.
The coffee got a layer, formed on its top without drinking. Anitha poured it in sink, dropped the cup there. When she started washing the vessels, she heard the door bell rang.
Parvati aunty, the apartment secretary entered inside, as soon as Anitha opened the door without even waiting for anitha to call her in. As well as she went straight to the sofa cum bed, and sat there casually with her legs crossed.
Parvati aunty was always like this, not bothering about manners. She talks too much, had a habit of talking about everyone else's secrets. In that apartment nobody could escape from her big mouth. By any means she knew all the details about everybody.
" What are you doing anitha? Am I disturbing you?" She asked while her eyes poking around the house.
" No, nothing madam, just kitchen work" anitha replied.
" See, I already told you, better to appoint a house maid, shall I suggest mine?! She wants to know all about anitha in and out, that task ll be accomplished by her sweeper, she thought.
" No, not necessary", anitha replied cut short.
" mm...ok, then it's your wish, with slight disappointment in her tone, she continued, "by the way we are celebrating jenmashtami Pooja next week and here is the estimation and your share" she handed her a small piece of paper.
Anitha opened her wallet and gave her share.
" You are the only person giving funds without any arguments", she laughed aloud unnecessarily and left the place.
Aunty's daughter Swetha is also another big problem for anitha. For her, anitha is like deaf and dumb. She always come here to chat with her 'frequently changing' boyfriends. Also to escape from her mother's 'Google' sorry eagle's eyes. Neither Anitha bother about her, nor inform her mother.
Anitha let out a sigh and started to work.
To be continued....
