These cadets were put on duty at 10 places including Santoshgarh, Bangana, Gagret, Una, Daulatpur, Amb etc; and they taught the local, shopkeepers and customers about social distancing, wearing of mask, personal hygiene.
The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of Armed Forces with its Headquarters at New Delhi, Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Wing, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.
The discussion for motto of NCC was started in 11th central advisory meeting(CAD) held on 11 August 1978. At that time there were many mottos in mind like "Duty and Discipline"; "Duty, Unity and Discipline"; "Duty and Unity"; "Unity and Discipline". later, at the 12th CAD meeting on 12 Oct 1980 they selected and declared "Unity and Discipline" as motto for the NCC.[4] In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moldings them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
The Narendra Modi government has decided to rope in National Cadet Corps (NCC) volunteers aged 18 or above, to help the Indian civil infrastructure in the fight against the widening coronavirus outbreak. The NCC has moved to help the civilian authorities by extending the services of its cadets under a programmer called ‘Exercise NCC Yogdan’. The NCC, which operates under the Ministry of Defense, is the largest uniformed youth organization of the country with an approximate strength of 14 lakhs. In a statement released, the NCC issued guidelines for temporary employment of its cadets to boost relief efforts and functioning of various agencies involved in battling the pandemic. As of now, 25,000 cadets are being mobilized to provide necessary local assistance, the tasks envisaged for cadets include manning of helpline/ calentures, distribution of relief materials/medicines/food/essential commodities, community assistance, data management and queue and traffic management. However, the cadets should not be employed in handling of law and order situation or for active military duties or at hot spots, “Only Senior Division volunteer cadets above 18 years of age will be employed. They should be employed in small cohesive groups of eight to 20 under the supervision of Permanent Instructor Staff or/and an Associate NCC Officer".
NCC cadets help local administration in humanitarian activities during Coronavirus. They get proper training and given a briefing before being deployed. They are the role models for the youth of the country as they are foregoing the comfort of their homes and are right in the front to help the government in its efforts to fight this deadly virus. Also, according to officials, more NCC cadets are ready to volunteer if the civil administration requires them. Since April 1, almost 2,000 cadets are already giving voluntary services in 12 states and Union Territories. And the numbers are increasing. More than 50,000 have volunteered so far. Where ever they are working with the civil authorities they are provided with proper safety equipment like masks, gloves, etc during their deployment. And most importantly they are under the supervision of Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, PI staff and ANOs of NCC. this is done in an effort to ensure the safety of the cadet in lockdown
Civil and police administration have started requisitioning for services of senior division National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Some of them have started giving service from today. Ministry of Defense (MoD) had allowed temporary employment of NCC cadets under ‘Exercise NCC Yogdan’ and guidelines were also issued in this regard. These cadets will give a helping hand to state and municipal authorities to augment relief efforts. Union Territory of Ladakh has requisitioned for employment of eight cadets in supply chain management. neemuch Superintendent of Police has requested Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Directorate for services of 245 cadets in supply chain and traffic management. Sixty four senior division cadets including seven women have already been employed. Collector of Bilaspur has requested for service of NCC volunteer cadets for training in COVID-19 preventive measures. These cadets are being imparted training for the job ahead. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (PHHPC) Directorate has received requisition by Deputy Commissioner of Kangra district in HP for services of 86 cadets till April 14, 2020 to assist Police in ensuring social distancing in the city localities. district Police of Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu (TN) has approached district nodal officer on COVID-19 for services of NCC cadets. Fifty seven cadets including two women have assembled and are being employed. In all, TN, Puducherry &Andaman Nicobar Directorate has provided services of 75 cadets in Tamil Nadu and 57 in Puducherry. Balrampur district administration in Uttar Pradesh has also asked for services of volunteer cadets from NCC Group Headquarters Gorakhpur. Some cadets are being employed for the purpose. eighty cadets in East Khasi Hillsdistrict are assisting the Meghalaya Police in monitoring of ration distribution and sensitization between April 06-08, 2020. the types of tasks envisaged for cadets include manning of helpline/call centers; distribution of relief materials, medicines, food/essential commodities; community assistance; data management and queue & traffic management and manning of CCTV control rooms. according to the employment guidelines, state governments/district administration has to send the requisition of employment of volunteer cadets through State NCC Directorates. Details will be coordinated at Directorate/Group Headquarters/Unit level with state government/local civil authority. It should be ensured that ground conditions and laid down requirements are met before the cadets are deployed for the duty. Under an initiative named Exercise NCC Yogdan 60,000 NCC cadets supply necessary items, make masks & perform other tasks Dan, a set of guidelines has been issued for temporary deployment of NCC cadets to augment relief efforts and functioning of various agencies involved in the fight against the pandemic.

The government is determined to expand the NCC and has decided to go ahead with its expansion in coastal and border areas. He also stressed on the modernization of NCC with a view to making it more relevant to the new and changed times. He also stressed on the need to make NCC activities compatible with the semester system of colleges and universities. The youth have been working sincerely in the fight against Coronavirus. These youth are full of unity, strength, discipline, dedication and motivation have been helping people to learn the lesson of social distancing.
