【कोकण प्रांत! आडवळणी रस्ता. एक गाडी मोकळ्या रस्त्यावर धावत आहे... बॅग्राऊंडला शांत व मनोहारी संगीत वाजत आहे. कार मधील म्युझिक सिस्टीम चालू असल्याचे समजते...】
INT. CAR -
【म्युझिकचा आवाज मघापेक्षा लाऊड... गाडीत पेशाने डॉक्टर असलेला आयुष ड्राइव्ह करत हँड्स-फ्री वर बोलतोय...】
आयुष: (Into phone) हो. कॅम्प संपवून घरीच जातोय. पण प्रॉब्लेम असाय, की माझ्या गाडीच्या एग्झॉस्ट मधून खूप आवाज येतोय. तात्पुरतं याचं काही करू शकतो? आल्यावर गाडी दाखवतो तुला.
मित्र: (VO) (Through phone) पहिला गाडी कुठं तरी लाव.
EXT. ROAD -
【Car stops aside of the road.】
आयुष: (OS) मग?
मित्र: (VO) (Angrily thr. Phone) मग काय? अजिबात ती गाडी चालवू नको!
आयुष: (Into phone) का? काय झालं?
मित्र: (VO) (Thr. Phone) का काय? गाडीचं एग्झॉस्ट खराब झाली असेल, तर विषारी कार्बन मोनोक्साईड केबिन मध्ये शिरण्याची शक्यता आहे. अशी गाडी चालवणं धोकादायक आहे. त्यातून तुझा प्रवास मोठा. मरशील की लेका. माहीत असून का विचारतोयस होय? मी पाठवतो मेकॅनिक. तोपर्यंत कुठं जाऊ नको.
आयुष: (Into Phone) अरे वेडायस काय? आख्खा एक दिवस लागेल तुझा मेकॅनिक यायला तोवर इथंच थांबू? (Thinks) हे बघ तू काही काळजी करू नको. इथं कोणी सापडतंय का बघतो.
मित्र: (Thr. Phone) बरं. पण तशीच गाडी घेऊन येऊ नको. ओके?
आयुष: (Into Phone) हो रे बाबा हो.
【He cute the call. And searches for help. But couldn't get it. All of a sudden he looks forward. He sees a beautiful sunset. He goes few steps ahead to the end of the ghat (Cliff) and watches the sunset Peacefully. Sun goes down slowly.】
DISSOLVE TO NIGHT -
【Darkness spreads and all of a sudden he fills that he is starving. He goes to the car. Opens the door. Looks for food. But he only gets an apple and half filled water bottle. He sadly eats it. Then he plants seeds in ground aside of the road apposite to car where he was standing before. He drinks some water and pours remaining water to the planted seeds. He throws bottle into the car and locks the car properly.】
【Then he goes backward to find a shelter.】
【Take some montages of Ayush's walking... At the end he is getting tired... His sleeves are up... His tie is tied up to his head tightly...】
EXT. HUT - NIGHT
【Few meters away. He gets a hut. He goes to it. Knocks the door. 】
【An old woman (Aaji) speaks from inside...】
आज्जी: (OS) (Loudly) कोणाय?
आयुष: (Loudly) मी आयुष रेगे. डॉक्टर आहे. घरी चाललेलो वाटेत गाडी बंद पडली. थोडी मदत कराल का?
आज्जी: (OS) असं कायबाय सांगूनच चोर दरवडेखोर लुटत्यात. तू खरा खरा डाक्टर काशावनं?
आयुष: (Convincingly) आज्जे खरं बोलतोय विश्वास ठेव!
【Few moments later, the door opens...】
आज्जी: आज्जी म्हंटलास म्हणून आत घिती. बोल; काय झालं? 【Her eyes catches Ayush clearly】 आ? काय रं ही तुझी अवस्ता...?
आयुष: गाडी बिघडल्या. दुरुस्त करणारा कोण भेटलं इथं?
आज्जी: हाय यक. पण गावात अस्तूय.
आयुष: रस्ता सांगशील मला?
आज्जी: रस्ता... हाय; पण अडचनीचा हाय. राच्चं जाया नगं.
आयुष: (To Himself) आता सकाळ पर्यंत मी काय करू? (Thinks) मी इथंच थांबलो तर चालंल?
आज्जी: (Thinks for moment) बरं थांब. पण तुझं वळकपतर्ं असलं तर दे ठेवाया.
आयुष: (VO) (To himself giving his id) च्या आईला! आज्जी गावातली आहे, पण हुशार आहे...
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. HUT - NIGHT
आज्जी: बस बाबा बस. दमलेला दिस्तुईस. पानी दिऊ?
आयुष: हो. थोडं... (Hesitated) थोडं खायला पण काही असलं तर...
आज्जी: (Smiles) व्हय व्हय. (Goes to kitchen looks for food) भात हाय नुस्ता. चालल का?
आयुष: (OS) हा चालंल की!
【Aaji puts Ayush's ID on the blankets. She brings rice pouring some milk over it.】
【She gives the plate to Ayush. He starts eating impatiently...】
आज्जी: (Laughs) आरं हळू. हळू. भात काय कुठं पळून नाय जात.
आयुष: (Smiles Embarrassingly) माफ कर पण जाम भूक लागल्या गं...
आज्जीः व्हय. खा बाबा खा. अजून लागला तर माग. तसं तुज्या खान्यावरनंच दिसतंय तू लाजणाऱ्यातला नाईस ते...
【Ayush smiles miserably. His mouth is full of rice.】
DISSOLVE TO:
【Ayush washes his hands in his plate. And gets up wiping his hands to his pant.】
आज्जी: कुठं झुपतूस बघ. आतल्या खुलीत झुपशील?
आयुष: कुठंही. माझं तसं काही नाही.
आज्जी: (Stepping towards the room) तुमी शहरातली मानसं म्हणून ईचारलं आपलं. य. असा य.
ANOTHER ROOM -
【Aaji makes him a bed.】
आयुष: एकटीच राहतेस?
आज्जी: व्हय इकटीच. नाय म्हणनाय. लेकरं सुना हाईती. पण असून नसल्या सारखी बग. बाहीरची चोर पडवडली. पन घरातल्या दरवडेखोरांचं काय करायचं?
【Ayush realises the situation. He feels sad for her. But again changes the mood. He takes his mobile out.】
आयुष: चल एक सेल्फी घेऊया.
आज्जी: चेल्फी? ते काय आसतं आनि?
आयुष: फुटू! फुटू! (Speaks this way to make her understand and Shows her where to look) इकडं यात बघ.
【She sees into camera. Both smiles. He clicks the photo.】
आज्जी: (Smiles and slaps on Ayush's lap) झोपा आता. उद्या सकाळी उठवतो.
आयुष: (Smiles) बरं.
आज्जी: झोप निवांत.
【Aaji gets up slowly. Ayush sleeps on the mat which is covered by thick blanket. Aaji switch offs the light and closes the door from out side.】
【Camera pans to Ayush's face...】
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. ROOM - DAY
【Ayush's face - We see few sun rays are on his face.】
【Few moments later, he wakes up. After seconds, he realises that he is not in his own room. He opens his eyes quickly. He sees the whole room. Let's out a breath. Realises the environment. He Goes to the door, tries to open it But he can't. He shouts for Aaji. She doesn't reply. He starts feeling fishy. So he bangs impatiently on the door loudly.】
【Some times later, Ayush is remained calm, he tries to hear some voices from outside putting a left ear to the door leaning on it... Sudden, he hears some footsteps... He alerts. He steps aside quickly. the door opens. One man comes to him and grabs his collar. He drags him out.】
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
【Aaji speaks impatiently as they come...】
आज्जी: (Shouts furiously) ह्योच त्यो. ह्योच त्यो. कवा घरात शिरलाय काय म्हाईत? वर हांथरून घालून निजलाय. न्या सायेब न्या याला. चोर कुटचा!
आयुष: (Confused more than Scared) मी? चोर? अहो आज्जी असं काय करताय? काल तुम्हीच घेतलंत ना मला आत? माझी गाडी बंद पडलेली... आठवतंय...
आज्जी: नाय बा! तू खोटं बुलतूईस. सायेब न्या जावा तेला!
आयुष: इन्स्पेक्टर, तुम्ही तरी विश्वास ठेवा. मी खरं सांगतोय...
【Inspector's eyes fall on Ayush's ID which is lying on Aaji's sleeping mat.】
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Turns his face to Ayush) म्हायताय म्हायताय खरं बोलतोयस ते! गुमान चालायचं!
आज्जी: व्हय व्हय घिऊन जावा!
CUT TO:
INT. POLICE'S CAR - DAY
【Car is running on the road.】
आयुष: (Convincingly, trying to explain impatiently) इन्स्पेक्टर विश्वास ठेवा. निळ्यात कॅम्पसाठी आलेलो. एक डॉक्टर आहे मी...
इन्स्पेक्टर: माहिती आहे. तुमचा आयडी पाहिलाय मी म्हातारीच्या घरी.
आयुष: (Shocked) मग तरी तुम्ही...?
इन्स्पेक्टर: करणं भाग होतं. कारण तिचा एकट्या माझ्यावर विश्वास आहे. आणि पोलिसांवर असलेला तिचा विश्वास मला मोडायचा नव्हता.
【Ayush doesn't get it.】
आयुष: वेट! व्हॉट?
कॉन्स्टेबल: (Driving) त्याचं कायाय साहेब; त्या आज्जीवर सगळ्या गोष्टींचा गजनी इफेक्ट होतोय.
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Bit Angrily) शिंदे!
कॉन्स्टेबल: सॉरी सर.
इन्स्पेक्टर: आयुष तुमची गाडी कुठाय सांगा शिंदेंना.
【Ayush gives direction to the driver. They reach to the car and climb down.】
EXT. REMOTE AREA - ROAD - DAY
【They come to the car.】
कॉन्स्टेबल: काय झालंय गाडीला?
आयुष: मफलर बिघडलाय.
【Constable doesn't get it. Ayush realises that.】
आयुष: सायलेंसर!
कॉन्स्टेबल: हा...
कॉन्स्टेबल: मी दुरुस्त करून घेऊन येतो.
आयुष: (Unbelievably) तुम्ही?...
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Smiles innocently) काही काळजी करू नका. आम्ही पोलीस मंडळी असतोच मदतीसाठी. शिंदे; जा तुम्ही.
【Constable sits into the car. He opens all the Windows and goes driving.】
आयुष: इन्स्पेक्टर, तुमच्याकडे पाणी आहे?
इन्स्पेक्टर: आहे ना. (He gives a bottle from his car) हे घ्या.
【Ayush crosses the road and waters the planted seed and then drinks.】
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Coming to Ayush) ते काय केलंत?
आयुष: विशेष नाही. काल इथं मी सफरचंदाच्या बिया पुरल्या होत्या. त्याला पाणी घातलं.
【Returns the bottle.】
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Taking bottle) ओह!
आयुष: बाय द वे. त्या आज्जीबद्दल तुम्ही काय सांगत होतात?
इन्स्पेक्टर: हा ते होय! त्या आज्जीला अल्झायमर आहे.
आयुष: (Shocked) अल्झायमर?
इन्स्पेक्टर: होय. पण या आजारात सुद्धा ती दोन गोष्टी विसरली नाही. एक म्हणजे तिच्या मुलांनी केलेला विश्वासघात आणि दुसरा मी. मी तिच्या लक्षात आहे कारण रोज मी तिच्या घरावरूनच ये-जा करतो. ती मुलं दिसतात कशी हे विसरली, पण त्यांनी केलेला विश्वासघात बिचारी विसरू शकली नाही. कदाचित त्यामुळेच ती तुम्हालाही चोर समजली असेल. (Sadly) सहा मुलांना सांभाळलं तिनं, पण आज त्या सहा जणांना मिळून सुद्धा एका आईला सांभाळणं जड झालंय. आयरनी; दुसरं काय? रहायला एक झोपडं तरी दिलीय हेच तिचं नशीब... असो, तिच्या लहान मुलाचा वाटेकरी त्याला माहिती पडू कळू देता रोज सकाळ - संध्याकाळ तिला जेवण देऊन जातो. म्हणून ती जिवंत आहे... त्या माणसांमुळं अजून माणुसकी देखील जिवंंत आहे म्हणायचं दुसरं काय... जाऊ दे.
【Aayush is thinking while listening carefully...】
INSPECTOR: (CONT'D) काय विचार करताय डॉक्टर?
आयुष: (Looks at Inspector) आज्जीला अल्झायमर नाही!
इन्स्पेक्टर: म्हणजे?
आयुष: एक मेमरी लॉस सोडला, तर अल्झायमरचं दुसरं कोणतं लक्षण आज्जीत दिसत नाही. हर् मुमेंट्स वॉज क्वायट फास्ट! हर् डिसीजन अबिलिटी इज ट्रीमेंडस! अल्झायमर झालेली माणसं तर्क लावण्यात, निर्णय घेण्यात खूप चुका करतात! त्यांना कॉन्व्हरसेशन प्रॉब्लेम असतात. पण आज्जी खूपच चांगल्या प्रकारे बोलते. आणि बरीच लक्षणं आहेत, पण ही आज्जीत नाहीत!
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Gets Suspicious) तुम्हाला म्हणायचंय काय?
आयुष: (Smiles) घाबरू नका. आज्जी कोणी गुन्हेगार नाही. मी फक्त एवढंच म्हंटलं, की तिला अल्झायमर नाही.
इन्स्पेक्टर: मग?
आयुष: मेमरी लॉसची अनेक कारणं असतात. आपण सरसकट सगळ्याला 'अल्झायमर' म्हणून मोकळे होतो. आपल्याला लक्षात न येणाऱ्या गोष्टींना आपण आपल्याला समजेल अशा सोप्या साच्यात बसवायचा प्रयत्न करतो. तसं आहे हे. आज्जीला अल्झायमर नाही, पण मेमरी लॉसचा प्रोब्लर्म नक्कीच आहे.
इन्स्पेक्टर: मग याच कारण...?
आयुष: कदाचित तिचे वय; किंवा तुम्ही सांगितलेली तिची करून कहाणी!
इन्स्पेक्टर: आह! नाऊ आय गेट ईट! मेमरी लॉस रिलेटेड् टू इमोशनल प्रॉब्लेम्स!
आयुष: इग्जॅक्ट्ली!
इन्स्पेक्टर: याला उपाय?
आयुष: प्रेम!
【Inspector nods seriously fully getting it.Then...】
इन्स्पेक्टर: (Looks to Ayush) एनीवेज्! तुमचा आयडी नंतर पोहोचवायची व्यवस्था करतो. आज्जीकडून गोड बोलून काढून घ्यावा लागेल.
आयुष: (Asking favor) त्याची गरज नाही इंस्पेक्टर. फक्त आणखी एक काम कराल?
इन्स्पेक्टर: बोला ना.
आयुष: काय मी तुमची गाडी घेऊन जाऊ शकतो. उद्या परत आणेन. आणि काय खर्च झालाय तोही देईन.
इन्स्पेक्टर: सरकारी गाडी वैयक्तिक कामासाठी वापरता येत नाही. पण तुम्ही सरकारी डॉक्टर आहात. त्यामुळे चालतं. मी अलाव करतो. (Smiles) जा घेऊन.
आयुष: (Greatfully Shakes hand with Inspector) थँक यू इन्स्पेक्टर.
【Ayush sits into the car. He drive turning the car. Inspector is looking at the car. His expression is like "Now what to do?" He sighs. Then looks at the bottle. He sips some water. He goes toward plated seeds. Sits aside. Drinks water again. Then looks at the place of planted seed. Pours water on it.】
CUT TO:
INT. POLICE CAR - DAY
【Ayush's expressions are so intense. Car stop.】
EXT. HUT - DAY
【He climbs down from the car and runs to the hut. Hut is open. He goes straight inside.】
INT. HUT
【He takes his id. Calls for Aaji again. Aaji comes to him from inside.】
आज्जी: कोणाय?
【Ayush shows her their photo from last night.】
【INSERT - MOBILE - Battery is between 10-13% - we see a photo.】
आयुष: (Anticipatively) आज्जे! आज्जे मी नातू हाय तुझा. ह्यो बघ फोटो आपला...
आज्जी: खरंच का रे... (Looks photo carefully) आरं व्हय की. इथं आतच काढल्याला दिस्तूय. (She takes Ayush face in her hands) म्या उगाच माज्या लेकराला पुलीसाच्या हवाली केलं... मारलं बिरलं नाय नव्हं त्यांनी तुला?
आयुष: (Emotionally takes her hands into his hands) नाय गं आज्जे नाय. बरं चल.
आज्जी: (Confusingly) आरं आता कुठं नितुयास?
आयुष: (His eyes are wet) आपल्या घरला!
आज्जी: मंजी हे आपलं घर नव्हं वय?
【Ayush shakes his head saying "NO!" With filled eyes. He takes her out.】
EXT. HUT - DAY
【Ayush brings Aaji torward the car.】
आयुष: (OS) तुला म्हायताय आज्जे? आपल्या घरी तुजी नातसून आनि पणतू पन हाय.
आज्जी: (OS in Haapy Voice) Sitting into the car) खरंच?
आयुष: (OS) (Closing door) तर!!!

INT. AYUSH'S HOUSE - DAY
【Ayush and Aaji are sitting near. He is feeding Aaji some soup by a spoon. Camera pans on a photo frame behind them, hanging on the wall. It is their new photo which was taken in Ayush's house.】
आयुष: (VO) रोज पाहत असल्यानं मला देखील ही आता लक्षात ठेवायला लागली आहे. तिचा नातू म्हणूनच. पण अजून एक गोष्ट मात्र मला समजली नाहीये, की...
