I want to write about my experience what I felt during my duty in covid ward. I also want to share feeling or problem which Pt faced while they stay away from loved ones. 18 June 2020. Mahavir hospital has started to admit covid patients from yesterday. M doing my duty in ICU which is for suspected patients. Today I have to join my duty. At first I was not ready as hospital had not given any prior information to us or even they had not provide accommodation to stay in hospital during covid duty. But I know at the end I have to do so become ready for it. Actually I was very excited for this covid duty as i want to experience and I want to give my contributions for society. I have also fear as anyone have but still I want to do it. I had started to see corona patient from Pt named Dineshbhai mehta who was first covid 19 positive patient of Surat diagnosed in our hospital. I have seen that patient before 1 month. At that time I was not too worried as it didn't know either it's fomite born infection. I had seen that patient without much fear but as soon as his report came positive we all staff got very scared. Now again the time comes to see covid patient and it starts from my duty. In morning I was very confused as what to do. Either I should do my duty or not. As I want to be prepared for it. Finally I got my duty in 4 B ICU -- my favorite place. First we have to ready for donning but today I did it little late as today is my first day of duty. I first went to sixth floor to drink tea bcoz if o enter in duty I couldn't drink tea and tea is my favorite ---- m addicted for tea. After donning we can not stay outside otherwise u will get suffocated. So I went into ICU but at first it's too much fogging on face shield and was unable to see anything with breathless so I came outside and took deep breath and again went in ICU. I know today 2 patients are in my ICU who were admitted yesterday. 1. Mukeshbhai panwala with Co morbidity and 2. Hanifbhai. Both are above 50. As today is my first day was little scared. Mukeshbhai's report is negative as it was done in outside hospital but his HRCT report is in positive so it's positive and report of hanifbhai was awaited but he coughed too much so he is also positive. Today in morning duty Dr. Purviben was there on duty in my ICU. She gave me over of patients. One direct admission came today of Dr. Karsan Nandaniya sir. Junedbhai. As it's direct admission I had to take sample nasopharyngeal sample. It's take too much time to complete all these work. I get very tired as it's difficult to work in ppe kit and there were too many calls. I fear as I feel as m doing work of telephone operator even my voice got changed and became horse. In ppe kit we can not speak it develops dyspnoea. As a first day with fear n all finally I hv completed my first day duty. I feel happy that day duty is also finished n I didn't feel urination. Otherwise I was worried for that. As our duty jst started we he yet no plan either to wear diapers. But as we know out of Surat in many hospital they wear diapers in covid duty and it is also in civil hospital. After 9:00 p. M. I go for my doffing but I felt during my doffing somewhere somehow while removing ppe kit it always touches to feet so again I become scared. Then gave over to my night reliever Dr Hiral and get bathing. After that go to room it's around 10:10 p. M. As today room is empty only m alone in that room I feel somewhat uneasiness. Then I ordered for dinner and went for bathing. Mom called me and m very tired so I talked little with her. Finally at 10:30 p. M. I get my dinner though it's good but I m unable to complete it due to tiredness. I got call from hospital administration as m on day first covid duty n hospital has provided accommodation.
