Panchayat: An essential refreshment during the lockdown

We all are at home due to COVID-19 pandemic, and while staying at home, everyone is trying to contain spread of the coronavirus. Spending time with hobbies can definitely make your time worthy. However, even if you like something too much, you seek a distance sometimes. That’s apply to everyone, nobody can except from the fact. I was literary tired by watching the same theme based web-series on different online platforms. Though the web-series were awarded with the great numbers on IMDb (Internet Movie Database), I cannot complacent. It is like, a volcano of the same kind of web series got erupted. But, in such scenario, a web-series named, “Panchayat” was released on Amazon prime with a ray of refreshment. New adventures are indispensable for the life. As a fan of TVF (The Viral Fever) team and after watching this beautiful sweet web series, I could not resist sharing it. So, let’s get started.

The first episode of the series starts with conversation between Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar-Jitu) and his friend Prateek (Biswapati Sarkar). Abhishek gets a job as the secretary of the Pradhan of Phulera village. His salary is also less as per his expectation. He is reluctant to join the job, but after his friend’s persuasion, he gets ready to join the post. It is a bitter fact that people think doing job in rural India is a tarnish on his image due to many reasons. Interestingly, his friend provides an example of Mohan Bhargav, A NASA scientist of Swadesh movie played by Shah Rukh Khan, and persists him to go to rural India and see real India. As I am living in Canada, when I go to my village in India, the background Shehnai music of Swadesh movie comes in the mind. The writer and the director of the web series have handles the real life issues, such as poverty, dowry, frustration, sadness, population control, male ego problems and many more, with humour, sarcasm, verbal Irony, rather than making the issues too dark. More importantly, the makers of the series have delivered a positive message regarding the subjects.

It is a story of many middle class ambitious boys and girls, who get stuck at the particular jobs and the positions. They are very eager to make changes in their profile, and they have the only option, which is higher education. Now, Abhishek wants to crack CAT for IIM (Indian Institute of Management) admission. And, thinks his job profile would prove asset for his admission procedure. He is so desperate that he wants to clear the CAT exam and leave this job. As you might have seen in the trailer, power cut is the main problem for Abhishek. Being as a secretary, he finds hurdles in administration and communication with villagers. It is not easy ride to do preparation for CAT examination after job hours for Abhishek. What do you think, Will he able to crack the examination? Will he get admission in the IIM? Will he leave the job? To find the answers of the question, you must watch all the episodes of the web series. Moving to the other important characters of the series, the Pradhan pati of the village, Brij Bhushan Dubey played by Raghuvir Yadav, has its own tactics to win the battle of life and politics of the village. Bonding between Raghuvir Yadav (Pradhan pati) and Faisal Malik (Deputy Pradhan) should not be missed. The gram sahayak (Chandan Roy) is a helper, who turned into a guidance and a friend of the secretary (Abhishek Tripathi). The Character of Neena Gupta, Pradhan of Phulera village, helps many people to find their ways to reach final destination many times. Typical behavior of husband and wife, Raghveer Yadav and Neena Gupta, is too good and not to be missed. When Raghveer Yadav thinks about something, it delivers the same impression of character Chacha Chaudhary. Chacha Chaudhary ka dimag computer se bhi tej chalta hai, means Uncle Chaudhary’s brain works faster than the computer.

This show of Phulera village makes you calm and compose by its music. Music plays the important part to make you feel like you are watching the web series based on the village. The background music, soft and melodious, gives you the sense of the village life style. Ten on ten marks to director of the show Deepak Kumar Mishra and writer Chandan Kumar, who never deviate from the script. Rather than making an episode of an hour long, they make it duration of approximate 30 minutes. Sometimes, it is monotonous to watch an hour long episode and then the same kind of 10-11 episodes in just one web series, it occupy a whole day. So, finally before signing off, if you are a fan of light, sweet, humorous web series and you are tired of staying at home(do not go out), this web series would be turned into refreshment for you during last phase of lockdown 2.0.
