Chapter 4
Marriage
Now, I completed my B.Sc in zoology with distinction and I was planning to go for study in abroad and I had a plan to go for study at Cambridge University. I had checked procedure to get admission and I had also got details about exams and other eligibility criteria.
As I was 23 years old now, it was obvious that I should get married. I was a prince of royal family thought I have never behaved or felt like prince because I like to live life in simple and normal way indeed I had never desire for luxury. There were few girls which my grandmother shortlisted and she showed me their photos. I refused all of them and I brought out fault in almost all the girls. Hence, my grandmother suspected me and started asking me questions why I was saying no every time whenever she brought photo of any girl. She might know reason from inside but she wanted to hear from my side.
Now, I hadn’t any other option left so I told her that I wanted to marry my friend and best companion Roshni. I told everything to my grandmother as Roshni & I were friends since my adolescence to my youth and she was best suitable person for me as a life partner. My grandmother understood that very well.
“I have no doubt in your choice.” She said with smiling face.
“Thank you.” I was happy to say that as grandmother had no objection with this marriage.
“Now give me phone number of her home so I can contact and talk to her parents.”
In those days mobile phones were like normal cellular phones and not like today’s smart phones and few had privilege to use those cell phones.
Roshni & I were getting that privilege and we were sending text messages and talking over the phone but my grandmother need phone number of her home. Therefore, I talked to her and told her that my grandmother would talk to her parents so she should inform her parents before my grandmother made a call to her home.
My grandmother had a conversation with her parents and they were ready for our marriage. There was no requirement of engagement as we already knew each other so date of marriage was decided. I didn’t want extravagant marriage but it was royal wedding. Hence, the necessary expense was to be done and that was what we did. It was simple but it was scintillating ceremony and we were happily married couple now. She came to my home, and now home actually became palace as my queen came to my home and I was really feeling like king.
