I am An Actress Not A Slut
Episode Two
…………………… To be continuing.
Every day, Shyamal, one of our common friends, encouraged me to propose her. I and Shyamal rehearsed proposal scene in our college theatre room. He played the role of Tanisha. I wrote a lot of proposal dialogues for rehearsal.
One day, under the extreme pressure from our mutual friends, I forcefully agreed to propose her on valentine day. A rose was bought for me by one of my friends to give her. I was very nervous. That day she wore a yellow salwar. Many boys were ready to give her roses but she came to me.
"Do you want to say something?" She said.
I was being nervous, hid the rose behind and said, "No, I have nothing to say. Why don't you take those roses from the boys waiting for you?"
She looked at me in anger and said the same word, my friend used to say, "coward."
A few days later, I got to know that she had been aware that I was going to propose to her and she wanted the confirmation from my side. Even the whole incident was planned by her. I felt dumb that day. So, I determined to tell her everything about my love for her. She rented a girls' hostel and me boys' because we had no relatives there in Mumbai. Boys were not allowed in the girls' hostel and vice versa. A few days later, I phoned her to come outside of her hostel. She wanted to know the reason but I didn't say anything. Those days it had been raining heavily for seven days and that was the fourth day. I had not slept for two days in order to express my feelings to her. On the day, it frequently rained. I was worried lest our meeting might be cancelled by her due to rain. We had fixed our meeting time in the afternoon. When I reached near her hostel, I saw her with an exciting face, waiting for me. She came there with an umbrella. She wore a blue mid skirt and orange top. I found her wearing the earrings which I had given her on her birthday. It seemed she was more excited than me. I forgot to take the umbrella out of thrill. The moment we met, the rain started again. She came to me and held her umbrella above our heads. Gaining enough courage when I was about to express my all feelings for her, I learnt that she got an offer from Bollywood. She explained how she got the offer from a famous director. At times, she would go for auditions in many places. I would ride her to those places. From one of those auditions, she got selected. She was so happy that I stopped telling her the actual reason why I phoned her to come here. Tears overflowed from my eyes. I got out of her umbrella to drench myself in the rain so that she could not notice tears in my eyes. I suppressed all my feelings again for the rest of my life.
"Is this your own car?" She said looking at my car, parking outside the airport.
"Yes, I have two more cars but this is my favourite." I took some time to reply because I was remembering our college days.
She got into the car without using one more word and I followed. I sat beside her on the back seat and told my driver to take us to my flat at Vasai West.
Almost for thirty minutes, we both were silent. I couldn't understand how I could start our conversation. At last, she asked me how was I and how was I doing.
In reply, I started my part of the story.
"Well, while working for my previous media house, I acquired knowledge of this field. I befriended a lot of ministers and celebrities. I was selected as the head of a new concept that we called 'Sting Operation'. For this, I also made enemies to some of them. I also got offers for money not to telecast their truth. But I never compromised even after getting death threats from them. Then one day, I happened to know the ugly truth of media houses. They sell news for their sponsors. They even distort the news for money. The owner of the media house sold all our sting operation videos with the high price. Being an honest journalist, I couldn't tolerate that. I resigned. I personally searched for honest journalists and accompanying them I made my own news channel. Subsequently, many honest celebrities, ministers, NGOs associated with us. Now our news channel is no.1 in India."
I, being busy with my story, forgot that her eyes turned moist. Having gathered courage, I wiped out her tears. She didn't respond much about it but my love for her grew again after so many years.
"Did you get married?" I asked the stupid question ever after being a famous journalist with whom even ministers think twice to answer my questions.
"No." I almost got shocked after hearing the answer which I never ever imagined of. I decided that it's the high time to express my feeling at that time. Before I started, she stopped me asking only one question, "Where is Pawan Kumar?"
Pawn Kumar, then superstar of Hindi film industry but he left the industry almost two years back. I should not say that he left the films. Still now, if he is offered a film with a big budget, he acts in it. He still produces multi-starrer films with his black money. After Tanisha, he was alleged three times by three different girls who were involved in the film industry but he came out with a clean chit. He lost a few fans of his for this behaviour. But after electing as a minister of Lok Shaba, his supporters grew hugely. He came to my newsroom two times to promote his party. I tried to expose him but he was cleverer. But I was plotting a plan against him. In order to accomplish my plan, I brought together another three girls who were also the victims of him.
