Second example in the same vain is Arunima Sinha. She is a lady who once had seen dream to be international volleyball player but ended as an Everest climber. May be she is only handicap lady in human history who has bagged this success. My friends, her both legs were not with her but she was with her. Her story of achievement is no less thrilling than thrilled Hollywood film.
She was from an Indian middle class family. Her dream to be an international volleyball player was in the track till the time she had not been thrown out from a running train by some anti-socials. After a whole night struggle to survive in-between two railway tracks, next morning she had been carried to a local hospital. After diagnosis doctors were left with no option but to separate to her left leg. This operation did not only separate her left leg from her but also her dream from her.
On medical bed she was seeing how her dream to be international football player was getting separate from her. Her initial days were not so easy and she was struggling to understand what to do next. But she was not among who accepts defeat easily. Successful people always make harder choice if they fail in something. In medical itself she decided to accomplish more challenging dream- Everest climbing. Anybody who came to know about her dream, laughed at her. Some thought she has gone mad. But only great people understand worth of their dreams, which look impossible for a common man to think even. When she expressed her interest to a mounting trainer, she came forward to provide all possible support and told “ Arunima, if at this stage you can think of Everest climbing, it means you are there, only the world would know the date.” Finally Arunima reached at top of Everest and proved that one can be only handicapped in the level of thought.
Let’s put ourselves in same shoe and think. What would be our immediate reaction after that very unfortunate accident? ‘O my God. What is this? Why did this happen with me? What wrong I had done to anybody? My dream has gone. I have no reason to live etc.’ -are some of the reactions we could have made. And finally would have left our life in hand of time to take care. But what was the different with Arunima? She was not among those who accept defeat. When she had been left with a difficult situation, she made more difficult decision. When life challenged her she challenged back to life. She made her mind to look for more option to prove her. She did not allow her mind to be upset for longer, rather she utilized it to find solutions to make her dream to come to true.
Would you call her lucky or unlucky? Was she fortunate or unfortunate? There is nothing called luck. It is always option for us to decide, how to move our mind-towards possibilities or which have gone. Either to look towards next phase of life or towards which have gone? Arunima did not waste much of her time in analyzing what she has lost or also did make no blame to God. Rather she looked towards next possibilities of life and made her mind to work accordingly.
My friends what that made Arunima to be there at top of Everest- it is her coach or trainer, sponsorship, family, government or something else? You are right friend; it is nothing but her strong will power which made her mind to support her even in most adverse situations. Your mind has no other option but to support you when you are determined from inside. Your mind only fails when you are not clear or confused from inside.
Now I am going to put my third example, which will kill your doubt (if still left anything), on your potentiality. After this example you will fill very energetic and enthusiastic towards your dream. The only difference between you and your success is a strong or never ending desire. Because it is your desire only which accompanied by your mind can land you at your success. Even in the most adverse situations if you will not stop or misdirect your desire it will continuously stimulate your mind to be at your target.
Let’s look at the below example just to confirm there is nothing called impossible or impossible is only survive in the dictionaries of the people who are not ready to use the mind and its power.
He is no other than Olympic medalist- Karoly Takacs. His journey towards achievement is full with so many adversities. But see how he gave new direction to the whole story. He was working in army and his aim was to win Olympic medal in pistol shooting. Everybody was very sure about it as he was exceptionally well in shooting and had bagged all most all national trophies. Hardly his shooting was missing its target. But in the year 1938, just before two years of scheduled Olympic, one unfortunate incident happened with him.
While in training one granite blasted in his hand, as a result he had to lose his right hand. Before moving ahead just put yourself in same situation and analyze. What would you have done?
Is not it enough to drain out all your confidence? Is not it more than enough to forget your dream? Is not is justified to committee suicide? Yes- is the answer for the people like you and I. But Karoly was not among us. He decided not to stop but to focus on his dream more seriously. He made his mind to find a solution and focus on alternatives. Nobody could really know what happened to him for next one year. But all surprised when he appeared in a national competition in the year 1939. When all were participating with their best possible hand Karoly was alone who was shooting with his only hand (left hand). And who own? The man with only hand-Karoly.
But to his unfortunate 1940 Olympic had called off due to Second World War. 1944 Olympic also had seen same fate. Now his all focus was on 1948 Olympic. But by that time he had gone 38. Now he was not as fit as he was 8 years back. But age is just a number when you have a focused mind. And he not only won 1948 Olympic but also made 1952 Olympic in his name, which is a record so far.
What would you speak about this person? Was he lucky or unlucky? Were the situations before him simple or difficult? These questions can be answered in a single statement, “Nothing matter when you have a right mental attitude and nothing matter when you have a wrong mental attitude”. External situations always changes. These are never in your control. But if you are clear and confident from inside nobody or no situation can stop you to be there, where you want to be. “Your mind can achieve anything what it truly believe”.
Dear friends, all these examples speak a volume about the ability what a human mind has. It knows no boundary, no obstacle, and no hurdle. We create all these and say we fail. Somebody has rightly told “Nobody can down yourself as much you can”. We are the true and only reason of our failure. External situations are the situations only. But the way we analyze and implement it, makes the differences.
Even a failure can teach you as much what a success cannot. A failure just teaches you are still short to be success. It never says you cannot be successful. A success story is also a story of failure from other way. Let’s consider following example to check it.
Do you know Thomas Edison? You are right; he is the person who had invented electric bulb. Do you know how many times he had failed, in his journey towards this historic invention? Some says he had failed for close to 1000 times, when some others have opinion than his failure number is more than 10,000 times. However we can generalize these statements and can say that he had failed for more than 99%.
It means if we will separate his final attempt which made the electric bulb to light; rest of his story speaks about his failure. Let’s for while forget about his final attempt. Now if I would ask you whether he is successful or failure? Your must answer would be, “he was a failure”. Because his all attempts (1000 or 10,000 attempts) had failed.
Let’s reverse the situation. For a while just remember his final attempt and forget rest of the story. If now I would ask you choose whether he was lucky or unlucky? What would you do? You would say “he was lucky”. Is not it? Yes. Because somebody came and made a single attempt and made a historic invention.
But to understand the reality, we need to take the story together. So there is nothing is called lucky or unlucky, fortunate or misfortunate. The way we take it, it appears to be.
In the end we only can say, the mind and its power is limitless. But despite of being extremely powerful, it still requires our permission to work or function. So make a perfect use of your mind and its power and be an extraordinary winner.
The End
