The God is Ready
[Something about this article- this article carries a deep insight about our understanding on Self and God. Most of us know, God is there in every living element. But why we are not able to see Him? This article has a justified answer of it. This eternal truth has been presented by a beautiful example. The next very question which has been attempted to answer here is-“is he God within one is different from another or is the same?” This also has been illustrated through another beautiful example. An unprecedented peace had prevailed in the Ashram in that morning. Everybody was found to be seen busy in their work uninterruptedly. Singing of birds, dancing of small plants in movement of air, sweetness of early morning sun shine were some of the things which were making the morning more melodious. An unspeakable smartness and enjoyment found to be seen in every disciple, as if something great is going to happen today. But why not, as the Master had declared to speak on a unique topic (on today), before concluding last evening discussion.
Everybody had desperately waited for the secession to start. Although the secession had scheduled to start in the afternoon but all had made their reach too early, just to ensure that they are not missing a single word even. The Master is still to come out of his room. It looks as if he was making his own preparation (no stone unturned) to give his best knowledge to disciples.
Finally, waiting of all came to the end. The Master came and sited in his place with a smile. And as usual process, all mediated for some time. Then master looked at all and told, “Well, are you all ready for today’s secession?”
“Yes Master, we are ready. Please enlighten us in your beautiful wisdom” one of the disciples stood and told.
Guru asked a question, “What is your understanding about temple, church, mosque etc.?”
One of the disciples setting in front line told, “All these are religious institutions, where people visit to worship Gods of own-own religions.”
“Good. But what do we mean by God?” Master asked another question.
One disciple stood and told, “God is the supreme power, who has created the whole universe. We worship him in various different religious institutions (temple, church, mosque etc.) in various forms. We visit him to fulfill our materialistic needs like property, job, marriage etc. or spiritual needs like wisdom, knowledge, liberation etc.”
“You are right.” the Master continued, “But all your understanding about God is true from external point of view. These are important but have limited use. But how many of you do believe that the God is there within us? How many of you have experienced it ever?”
Many of the disciples could not understand anything. Some were wondering to know how this can be so. One among them stood and told, “Dear Master, how this can be so? How can you say the God is within us...?”
“Yes it is so” guru interpreted and continued, “He is not only in there within you or I, rather He is there is every bit of universe, in every planet and animal, everywhere. Without Him nothing can exist, neither you nor I.” the master became silent. It was looking as if he is realizing God within him.
Disciples started to discuses among themselves for sometime but reached at no conclusion. One among them stood, “Dear Master, we are getting into confusion? If you say God is there within each of us, them why are not able to see Him? Kindly suggest us how we can see and realize Him.”
Guru smiled and looked at the west sky. It was about to be evening. Pointing to a disciple sitting to his immediate right, he told, “See it is go be evening. So far we have not made any arrangement of light. Do one thing. Go bring the lamp (traditional lamp burn in kerosene) there in the room, before it goes enough dark to see each other.”
The disciple went inside the room and all waited till his return. After some time he rushed back to the Master having lamp in his hand and told, “Perhaps it is not in use since a long. Look at its glass, it is has gone completely dark in smoke. I am afraid, whether it will work or not.”
The master looked at him and told, “Is it? Open its glass and check its condition?”
Without any delay he opened its rounded glass but to his utter surprise the lamp was burning from inside. He shouted, “Guru, see it is burning. Perhaps the person who had lighted it had forgotten to off it. Its condition is ok. Its kerosene level is also good. I just need to clean its glass. Give me five minutes”
The Master smiled again and told, “Do not be hurry. If you need any assistance you may take one of friends with you. But clean its glass properly. We all are waiting for you here.”
Both disciples left with the dirty lamp and all waited till their return. There was darkness everywhere. Nobody could see face of other. After fifteen minutes both returned with fully lighted lamp. Now the light of lamp was so clear that, it was more than enough to light the whole place. Everybody relaxed now.
The master broke his silence and told, “Where were we? Yes, the question was why we are not able to see God although he is within us? Right...”
“Yes Master” one disciple told and continued “Kindly help us come out of this confusion.”
The master drunk some water and told, “Well, first tell me what the problem with the lamp was? See, now it is able to light the whole place. But this was not the case before. Why we were not able see its light although it was burning from inside?”
One disciple stood and said, “It is very simple to answer. As its upper glass was dark, so we were not able to see light inside?”
“But does it mean that, there was no light inside?” asked the Guru.
“No..no master. How light can be blamed? It was burning in inside. It was only dirtiness of glass which was preventing the light to come to us.” answered a disciple.
“Is it so?” continued master “We may say, light has no mistake. It is our mistake or dirtiness of glass which may be blamed.”
“Yes master” all said together. But nobody was able catch the movement of discussion.
Guru smiled and told, “Here is the answer of your question ‘why we are not able to see God?’, although he is there inside. We are no better than that dirty glass. As we were not able to see the burning of lamp through that dirty or smoked glass, so also experiencing the God through our polluted vision or polluted understanding or polluted personality is not a possible task. A personality equivalent to God or a pure personality is required see or understands Him.”
“But how you can say we are polluted?” asked a disciple.
Guru smiled and told, “It is only because we are not able see or understand our complete self. See, our understanding about self is half or incomplete. Understanding self as body, thought, emotion etc. are nothing but temporary or limited knowledge of self. These are more about what we not than what we are. Look at your breathing system. Who is functioning it and how it being done? Who takes care of you when you are in deep sleep? How your nerve systems work? How oxygen gets converted to life? Do you have any clue about these?”
“No master. Even we have never thought about these?” answered a disciple.
“See most of the important functions of our body, without which we cannot live even for a minute, are going on without our knowledge. What can be more surprising than this? But what is more surprising than this is, still we claim ‘this is my body’. However there is somebody or something inside us who is taking care of each of our functions. It is because of ‘It’ we are alive. He is no other than the God.”
“You are very true Master. But why we are not able to see or experience him” asked somebody.
Guru continued with a deep voice, “It is only because we are not pure from inside. So I said we have gone polluted. How we can expect to see something which is pure in our impure eye?”
One disciple settled in middle row stood and said, “You are right master. But please explain us how we have reached in this position. What has made our personality so impure?”
Guru took a deep breath before answering, “Dear, our wrong understanding about life which leads to committing mistakes after mistakes are only responsible for our impureness. See, as the fair is burning inside it will create smoke and smoke will leave its impression on glass. But we are required to clear glass regularly; to insure that light inside can light outside. But if we will not do it, a day would come when the glass gets completely smoked and the light cannot be experienced. This was the case with the lamp. It was not due to the smoke of single day rather it had not been taken care of since a long time. In the same vain as we are living in society both negative and positive emotions are obvious to influence us. But we need to check and clean self on base of our knowledge.”
“Is there any way to come out of it, Master?” one disciple asked very seriously.
“Why not, if you are really interested for.” continued master, “Proper education followed by practices only can help you to come out it. Understand your true self. Know that you are not your body, emotion, thought etc. is the way to come out of it. Knowing yourself as soul and living life accordingly can take you towards your God.”
Guru continued after a break, “How did you treated with lamp to see its light? You first cleaned it glass. And after this, light came out automatically. You had not to put effort to light it. Your effort was just limited to clean its glass. In the same manner, first you should take action on self. You need to clear your personality. You need to make your personality equal or equivalent to God. You need not to create or make God; he is there within you already. You automatically start to realize him when your personality stands equal or equivalent with him.”
One disciple asked, “It is does not sounds easy. Is it easy Master?”
Guru smiled and told, “Dear, never. As this is the highest realization of life, it also deserves highest effort. It takes so much time- sometimes life after life. So endless love, compassion, patience, love etc. are required for anybody who wants to drive in this road. Here you are being tested in your every step.”
“Thanks, so much thanks to you sharing such priceless knowledge” one disciple told with gratitude and continued, “But still I have a doubt. Is God one or different? You told ‘I can realize my God’. But does it mean that my God is different from anybody else?”
Guru laughed at him and asked looking at the other disciples “Is there anybody else, who has the same question?”
Most raised their hands. Asking them to put down their hands, Guru told, “See, this one of the most sought after questions, relating to God. History has witnessed multiple fights on this concept. Listen carefully. If you will understand it deeply, you will never come in the mess.”
The Master continued after mediating for few seconds, “You might have seen flying of balloons of different colors in sky. What makes every balloon to fly?”
“The air within it and outside also” somebody answered.
Guru smiled and told, “But does it means that, the air within one balloon is different from another? Does the air out side is different from the air inside? No absolutely not. Air within one balloon is same with air in rest of balloons and air outside. Basically is term of air, there is no differences. Differences only can be marked in term of balloons and its colors. But neither balloons nor their colors are constant. It is equally true in case of God. The God within us is equal to the God within anybody and outside also. It can be said better that, the ‘one God has been presented in various forms- like I, you, he, tree, animal etc. There is absolutely no difference. No difference at all. One just needs to develop proper understanding to experience this non-difference of God.”
The master looked at wall clock. It was about to be 9.00 pm. He realized dinner has gone late. Without any delay he moved towards his concluding comments, “Dear, let’s conclude today’s session. The God is ready as always. You need not to create or make one. You can’t, even if you will try. The only thing you can do is – to work on self, to make your institution (character) ready. Our all effort to look for God outside of self may end in vain, if we cannot find him inside. Dear, just work on self (institution ready), so that you will illegible for the God to express himself. This is all about today. Thanks.”
With it the session came to the end. The master moved towards dining room and rest followed him. But a deep silence had been prevailed everywhere, as if everybody had started to search for God inside.
