પોતાના વિચારો સંતાન ઉપર લાદી દેવાનું શું પરિણામ આવતું હોય છે, તેનું નિરુપણ કરતી ટૂંકી વાર્તા “ગૃહત્યાગ”માં વણિક-શિક્ષક પિતા જયેશભાઈ પોતાના તેજસ્વી દીકરાની ડોક્ટર બનવાની ક્ષમતા અને સપનું તોડીને કોમર્સ ગ્રેજ્યુએટ બનવા મજબુર કરે છે. દીકરો માનસિક રીતે ભાંગી પડે છે અને માનસિક સંતુલન પણ ખોઈ બેસે છે. એક દિવસ પરિવારના સુખ-ચેન અને સમાજની આબરુ ખાતર ગૃહત્યાગ કરી દે છે. કોમળ કળી ફૂલ બનીને મહેંકે એ પહેલા જ એને સ્વયં માળી દ્વારા મુરઝાવી દેવામાં આવે છે, એની સંવેદનશીલ કથા એટલે “ગૃહત્યાગ”
