કરણઘેલો એ ઈ.સ. ૧૮૬૬માં લખાયેલ ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યની પ્રથમ નવલકથા છે. નંદશંકરે આ નવલકથા ૩૦ વર્ષની નાની વયે લખાયેલ છે. વાર્તાનું કેન્દ્રસ્થાન પુરાતન પાટણ શહેર છે. ફાર્બસ સંપાદિત ‘ રાસમાળા’ માંથી ગુજરાતના અંતિમ રાજપૂત રાજા કરણઘેલાને પાત્ર બનાવી નંદશંકરે તેની આસપાસ કલ્પનાસૃષ્ટિ રચી છે. ઘણીખરી ઘટનાઓ અને પાત્રો ઐતિહાસિક છે. પાટણનો ઇતિહાસ જાણનારાઓને આ વાર્તા જાણીતી લાગશે. આ ભાગ ૨ છે, વાર્તા લાંબી છે એટલે અહીં ૩ ભાગમાં પ્રકાશિત કરી છે.
