ખુશાલ જયારે એના થાનકે આવ્યો ત્યારે રાતના અઢી વાગ્યા હતા. ફૂટપાથ ઉપરની મરકયુરી લાઈટના થાંભલા નીચે એની જગા ઉપર નિરાંતે સુતેલા ભૂરિયાને એણે ખદેડી કાઢ્યો, પોતાનો ફરિયાદી અણગમો વ્યક્ત કરતો હોય તેમ 'ભોં ભોં...' કરતો અપમાનિત થયેલ ભૂરિયો જરાક દુર જઈ ઊભો રહ્યો. ખુશાલે તે જગ્યા સાફ કરી. પછી ગજોધર ભૈયાની રેંકડીની નીચે રાખેલી ગોદડી કાઢીને ફૂટપાથ ઉપર પાથરી, સામેના નળેથી પાણી લઇ હાથ મો ધોઈ જરીક ફ્રેશ થઇ ગોદડી પર બેસી પછી એણે પેલું પડીકું ખોલ્યું. 'આજા બીડુ તુ ભી આ જા ' કહી બુચકારો કરી ભૂરિયાને ય ખુશાલે ડીનર કરવા તેડયો.
