ગોરખપુર સ્ટેશને ઉતરનાર એ એકમાત્ર મુસાફર હતો. એણે ગામ જવાની વાટ પકડી. જરાય ઉતાવળ કર્યા વિના એ સીધો ગામ તરફ ચાલ્યો જતો હતો. ગામ આશરે દોઢેક માઈલ દૂર હતું. નાનકડું જ ગામ એટલે બસની સગવડ ક્યાંથી હોય? ચાલતા જ જવું પડે. વર્દી હોય તો ગાડાવાળો લેવા આવે. પણ આજે એકે ય ગાડું સ્ટેશન બહાર ન હતું એટલે મુસાફરે સીધા ચાલવા જ માંડયું. ઘટાદાર વૃક્ષો અને તેની વચ્ચેથી પસાર થતી કાચી સડક જાણે કે મુસાફરને ઊંડાણમાં ઘસડી જશે એમ લાગે. બપોરનો સમય હતો. દૂરના ખેતરોમાં ખેડૂતો કામ કરી રહ્યા હતા. ફૂવા પર ચાલતા કોસનો કિચુડ કિચુડ અવાજ શાંતિભંગ કરવા છતાં માંનવમગજને એક પુરાણા ગામડાની યાદ અપાવતો હતો.
