કોચીંગ ક્લાસનો છૂટવાનો બેલ વાગ્યો. બેય સખીઓ સાથે દાદર ઉતરી અને નીચે રસ્તાનાં સાઈન બોર્ડ નજીક ઊભી. સામે દાદર પરથી એક યુવકને ઉતરતો જોઈ પહેલીની દૃષ્ટિ તેની ઉપર પડી. એકદમ પાતળો, ગોરો ચટ્ટ યુવક. એની આંખો પણ અણીયાળી હતી. તે યુવક સામે જોઈ રહી. છોકરીઓ પણ આનાથી ઓછી રૂપાળી હોય એવો પણ પાણીદાર. બેયની દૃષ્ટિ મળી. યુવકે એક સ્મિત આપ્યું. તેણે સામું. સખીનું પણ ધ્યાન ગયું. હળવેથી તેણીના કાનમાં બોલી "મમ્મીનો બાબો છે. છોકરી જેવો રૂપાળો લાગે છે, નહીં!" તે નિરુત્તર રહી. તેને આ છોકરો જોવે ગમ્યો. સોળ સત્તર વર્ષે હજી યુવાની પૂરી ફૂટી ન પણ હોય. મૂછનો પાતળો દોરો
