આ એક સત્ય ઘટના છે. દમયંતીમાસી આજે તો પાસંઠ વર્ષના છે પણ એમની ચાલીસીની આ વાત છે. ગામના ગર્ભશ્રીમંત તથા નામાંકિત વકીલ તેમના પતિ હતા. નાના શહેરમાં રહેતા હતા. તેમને ત્રણ દીકરાઓ અને બે દીકરીઓનો વસ્તાર હતા. લગ્ન જીવન ખૂબ જ સુખી હતું. પણ એકાએક એમના ગુલશનમાં દાવાનળ ફાટ્યો ! વકીલ સાહેબ એમના વનમાં પ્રવેશ્યા ત્યાં ગામની એક અઢાર વર્ષની શાળામાં ભણતી ગરીબ પણ અતિ સુંદર છોકરીના મોહમાં પડ્યા. પૈસાના જોરે છોકરીને લલચાવી ફોસલાવી અને તેની સાથે જુદું ઘર માંડ્યું. દમયંત પર વજ્રઘાત થયો. છોકરાંઓ સમજણા થયેલા હતા. મોટી દીકરી તો એ છોકરીની ઉંમરની હતી. સગાં વહાલાંઓએ, ગામના લોકોએ વકીલ
