આજે કંઈક વણકલ્પેલી જ બીના બની. મે મહિનાની તપતી એકાદ સાંજે હું, ઓફિસથી છૂટીને કકડીને ભૂખ લાગી હતી, ઑફિસની પાસે એક નાસ્તાની દુકાનમાં ભાવતા નાસ્તાનો ઓર્ડર આપીને લાઈનમાં ઉભો રહ્યો ને મારો વારો આવવાની રાહ જોતો હતો. થોડીક જ વાર થઈ હશે એવામાં મારી બાજુમાં લગભગ આધેડ, એવા કાકા આવીને ઊભા રહ્યા, ઊંચાઈ મને ઢાંકી દે એવી ને કાયા પણ એવી પડછંદ. અડીખમ શરીરના આ માલિક તેમનો ઓર્ડર આપીને મારી જેમ એમના વારાની રાહ જોઈ રહેલા. હું હજુ તો વિચારતો હતો કે ક્યારે બનાવશે આ દુકાનવાળો, સાથોસાથ દયા પણ આવી કે આવી સાંજની ગરમીમાં જો મહિલા વર્ગ ગેસ આગળ ઉભા
