પૂનમની અજવાળી રાત હોવાં છતાં આજે ચોતરફ ગાઢ અંધકાર છે. કાળા કાળા વાદળોમાં ચંદ્ર ઢંકાઈ ગયો છે. ધીમો ધીમો ઝરમર વરસાદ સાંજથી ચાલુ છે. સોસાયટીની સ્ટ્રીટ લાઇટ બંધ છે. કોઈ કોઈ ઘરની વરંડાની ડીમ લાઈટો એ ગાઢ અંધકારને ચીરવા મથી રહી છે. મને લાગે છે કે એ ઈમરજન્સી લાઈટો હશે જે ઈલેક્ટ્રીસીટી જતાં ઓટોમેટીક ચાલુ થઈ જતી હોય છે. લગભગ રાતના બે વાગવા આવ્યા છે. આજુબાજુનાં બધાં ઘરનાં બારી બારણાં બંધ છે. બધાં ઘસઘસાટ ઊંધતાં હશે, નહિ…?! રોજની જેમ મારી ઊંઘ તો આજે ય ગાયબ છે! મારે ને નિંદ્રાને જૂનું વેર છે! હું શૂન્યમનસ્ક આંખનું મટકું યે માર્યા સિવાય અધખુલ્લી
