ઉત્તમ મીલમાં કામ કરતો એક કારીગર. અનુભવને કારણે એને કારીગર કરતાં થોડી જવાબદારી વધારે એટલે એનો પગાર પણ કારીગર કરતાં વધારે. ટૂંકમાં કહીએ તો બધાં કારીગરોનો એ બોસ. એણે મીલમાં કરતાં બધાં કારીગરો પર ધ્યાન રાખવાનું તદુપરાંત એણે દરેક કારીગરની હાજરી ગેરહાજરી પણ જોવાની અને એમનો પગાર પણ કરવાનો. દરેક કારીગરોનો પ્રિય કારણકે સ્વભાવે સરળ ઇમાનદાર અને કાયમ કોઇના માટે મદદ કરવા હંમેશા તૈયાર રહેતો. ઉત્તમ એની પત્નિ સરલા અને ૬ વર્ષની દીકરી ખુશી સાથે પ્રેમથી અને સુખેથી રહે છે. એને જીવનમાં દરેક વાતે સંતોષ છે.
