રંગીન હતી પાંખો, શેષ પીંછા સફેદ બચ્યાં છે, મેં કાળી છતમાં આભલાં રૂપે ચમકતાં તારા રચ્યાં છે. જામનગર જિલ્લાનાં ભલસાણ ગામની ભાગોળે આવેલી નદીનાં કિનારે સફેદ રંગના સાડલામાં સજ્જ એક સ્ત્રી બેઠી હતી. આકાશમાં ક્ષિતિજે કાળા લીટાંડાને ચીરતો સૂર્ય વાદળોની પાળી કૂદીને બહાર આવી રહ્યો હતો. સાડલાનો છેડો કપાળથી નીચે નાક સુધી ખેંચીને બેઠેલી સ્ત્રી હતી ગુલાબ. નામ જેવી જ ગુલાબ રોજ સવારે આમજ આવીને નદીના કિનારે બેસતી. વહેલી પરોઢે પાણી ભરવા નીકળેલી ગુલાબ આજની જેમ રોજ અહીં બેસતી અને દૂર સામે ખોડિયાર મંદિરની પાછળથી ઉગતા સૂર્યને અને એના કિરણો દ્વારા ભૂખરા આકાશમાં પથરાતા રંગોને નિહાળતી અને હરખાતી.
