એ વખતે એક રૂપિયો ગાડાનાં પૈડાં જેવડો તો નહોતો પરંતુ તેની કિંમત ઓછી પણ નહોતી. એક રૂપિયામાં ઘણો ભાગ મળતો.ને રોજ પોકેટમની માટે એક રૂપિયો જ મળતો. સ્કૂલે રિસેષમાં એક રૂપિયામાંથી ગેટ પાસે બેસતાં માજી પાસેથી એક જમરૂખ અથવા જે સીઝન ચાલું હોય તેનું ફળ મળતું ને સાથે આંબલીના કાતરાને મીઠું મરચું,બોર, સંતરા, પીપરમેન્ટ જેવો ઘણો ભાગ મળતો.જે હું તો ખાતો પણ મારાં મિત્ર સાથે પણ શેર કરતો. એક દિવસનો એક જ રૂપિયો મળતો તેવી આકરી શરત હતી. સ્કૂલનાં નાના મોટાં ખર્ચ જેવાં કે બોલપેન,પેન્સિલ,રબ્બર,નોટબુક જેવાં દૈનિક ખર્ચ પણ આ એક રૂપિયામાંથી જ
