બપોરનો સમય હતો. રસ્તાની બંને બાજુ મોટા વૃક્ષ નજરે પડતાં હતાં. એમાપણ પાછા ઠેરઠેર રસ્તા પર પડેલાં લાલ ચટક ગુલમહોરના ફૂલ જાણે સ્વાગત કરી રહ્યાં હતાં. વેરાન રસ્તે એકલ - દોકલ માંડ વાહન નજરે પડતાં હતાં. ત્યાં સાંકડા અને ગામડાનો રસ્તો હોય એવા રસ્તા પર પુરઝડપે અપૂર્વ ગાડી દોડાવી રહ્યો હતો. એની સાથે એનો મિત્ર ગૌરવ અને એની પત્ની મંજરી પણ હતાં. અપૂર્વની પત્ની સૌમ્યા જાણે કોઈ વાતે એનાથી નારાજ હતી. નામ પ્રમાણે જ એ ગુણ પણ ધરાવતી હતી. એ થોડી - થોડીવારે ગાડીમાંથી બહાર નજર કરી રહી હતી. છુટાછવાયા ઝુંપડા નજરે પડ્યાં. અપૂર્વ એની સામે
