આઇસીયુમાં બેડ પર પડેલા કાર્તિકને જોઈ એક ઊંડો નિઃશ્વાસ નાખી સાવિત્રી ઘરે પાછી ફરી ત્યારે અશ્રુવિહોણી ઊંડી ઉતરી ગયેલી હેતુની આંખો પ્રશ્નાર્થભરી નજરે તેના તરફ તાકી રહી હતી. “બેટા કાર્તિક ઝડપથી ભાનમાં આવી જશે, એવુ ડૉ સાહેબે કહ્યું છે, હું હવે આપડા બંને માટે જમવાનું બનાવી દવ.” આંખમાં આવી ગયેલા આંસુ રોકી રાખતા સાવિત્રી આટલું જ બોલીને રસોડામાં ગઈ. કૉમામાં સરી પડેલો કાર્તિક આજે ભાનમાં આવશે, કાલે ભાનમાં આવશે, આવી આશામાંને આશામાં ત્રણ ત્રણ માસ પસાર થઈ ગયા, હેતુ પણ જીવતી જાગતી કૉમામાં જ
